Pointless late night (I mean morning) update. What? I don't have a problem.

This I've been meaning to finish for a while. Due to a mess up whilst designing it only the first floor (second for you damn Americans) is accessible. Not quite as horrible to paint as I had expected. I chose to make this one twice the height of the regular shacks just to allow for a bit more variety in what's going on on a table. Sure it could also be used as a bird's nest as well. Hmn, I should have attached a ladder to the outside as well (or would that have been too bent? Go prone on that roof and it'd take a mortar shell to hit you).

The graffiti on this one reads in Chinese (simplified): "Blue Flu" (or at least its supposed to, I suck at calligraphy. ...My best friend asked why the bus I made earlier said Tacos on it, so I guess I'm not that horrible). The big blue man came first, the tie into the Fallout world came later. The Blue Flu's another name for the New Plague, and written in Chinese as a strain of it was intended for use in sterilising their population. See, its not just a random big blue guy (nah just kidding it is).

I have a few more unexploded nukes in the works right now. It'll be Monday though before I can buy some more glue to add some sand to their bases. With those I'll have five of the things. I could make more (I have tons of Kinder Egg capsules), but perhaps I'm already a bit overkill for your average board.

I need to finish off more shacks as I feel that on the clutter end of things there's plenty right now. I've been using collapsed Mordheim style buildings in my games, and those are fine, but I'd like to be able to fill out a table with post-war buildings. That will require moving the pile of loose terrain I have on top of the box the shacks are in however... so ah, maybe I should paint something easier to access first. =)

I like the big blue fella!  :-* He looks good.

You don't need more unexploded bombs unless you're making a US military rocket base. Make some more shanty buildings :D

Cheers
Matt

Graffiti's fun. :D

I should make a few rad pools and piles of radioactive barrels. It'd be a cool board that was just filled with those kind of hazards. I was buying in Kinder Eggs in the hopes of finding decent toys after finding that teddy one. Now I have a load of the things and I may as well do something with them. But yes, other than the Ghoul town of Jericho nukes probably wouldn't be in huge demands.

I'm out of black paint (Games Workshop Chaos Black dries up in its pots for some reason) and glue at the moment. So I can't paint anything until I go into town tomorrow. Tonight though I'll see about using up what's left to basecoat some rubbish skips. Ooh, I should find a loose zombie body and toss it into one of those skips. Youknow to achieve that authentic Fallout 3 experience (with the FOOK mod installed you're finding skeletons shoved into dumsters/toilets/letter boxes all the time). For a zombie game a skip packed with corpses would be an interesting feature come to think of it...

I forgot that I'm going out tonight, so the chances of me finishing anything are slim. To that end here's what's currently being painted.

...Uh make a game of trying to work out what each of those little black things are.  =)

From my flgs I picked up two of Reaper Ogres (well actually one of them's more like a two headed Scandinavian Troll). Both are pretty big, so are destined for leadership or Brute positions. This is the two headed one, now short of one head (but not a brain, no those things are just for show ...according to the Troll Hunter ^^). This is just after I repositioned the arms/head and gave him a flail. I imagine the barrel's filled with rocks/concrete/water/some heavy crap. After some greenstuffing he'll be a Nightkin Master though, on behalf of his bearskin outfit.

Take better pictures of white things camera. ¬¬

Dammit I should have beat that barrel up a little.

More blether tomorrow when this crap's actually painted. Well the terrain bits. I'll see about sculpting up the ogres, the Nightkin one at least, this afternoon. However I'm going to have to sift through the bins for some cork to stand in as concrete (why ever would a Super Mutant be carrying concrete? Perhaps at the end of a stick...). Not enough drinkers in this house.

Cool conversion with the barrel on a Chain maybe I will hook it for my Supermutant Beast! But Man, your painting water pot needs really a cleanup, or is it the secret weathering incredient? :D

@ DELTADOG

The ball and chain idea came from Fallout 3's concept art. In that there's a Super Mutant armed with a car's engine rather than a barrel. Unfortunately I only have an aeroplane's one, which looked a bit too tall and slim to work (I bought it to use as a trap market anyhow).

See here in the top right:

Oh and don't worry, all that built up paint's only on the inside. So my hands remain perfectly clean when touching it. * Completely missing your point.

@zizi666

Grit/Salt bins actually. Now I haven't a clue how much snowfall Utah has, but I don't think those would have seen much use. I just happened to have a few spare that I haven't bothered painted in a year (well May 10th last year to be exact).

Oi and you missed the tires in the background. I'm docking you 10pts and giving you a match ban. =)

@zizi666

I didn't, and it would be easier to use an actual engine block than tatty up that barrel. Though I'd need to sift through Zinge's site to find some other bits to buy. I'd hate to spend cash on shipping for a cheap item.

New Californian Republic
Followers of the Apocalypse Doctor (Crooked Dice Casual May KIllian)

I tried to paint her as though she were South Asian. Probably not that noticeable as I've been painting a fair few of my models with tans. Perhaps she's a missionary out of Shady Sands.

Here's some street furniture from Ainsty castings. I'd love if someone made the magazine dispensers and Mojave Express Drop Boxes from New Vegas too (hint hint).

Salt Bins. I just happened to have these spare. I've no idea if they're appropriate to the time period (or hell if there's much use for the things in Utah).

Mail Boxes. A pity that they're solid pieces. I'd have liked it if the drawer was removable and front door could be opened, but that's asking for too much. They're fine as is. =P

Feck, I knew I had to cover up that bit of graffiti on the front of that mailbox. Next time it turns up it'll have Animal from Sesame Street on it or something.

I started work on a second Brahmin. They'll both be pack brahmins as I feel that they'd be more use in games that way. The bits for the packs are collected, its just finishing off the base Brahmin models first. To go along with them I've made a trough from a fuel barrel. I don't have any of that fancy water effects resin though, so unfortunately these Brahmin are going to stay parched.

Hmn, I should find a bathtub and use that as a trough as well. Whilst I'm on the subject of water features I have plans for using a toilet as a public water source as well. *$2 a drink ;)

The nukes I'll leave for another post. I'd like to put together some rad pools to go along with them, but failing that I just can't be bothered finishing them.

Before I base and paint these, here's three of the shacks that I'll be painting soon. I have another six after these which can start on after though. The rest of the shacks need a bit more detailing, though that shouldn't take too long. ...Actually starting any of that is what's going to take a while.

The first two shacks don't have interiors, but the last one does. Its supposed to be a kind of corner shop, though I've left the interior sparse bar the odd shelving unit for ease of model placement. I need to see how decent my printer is so I can print off some posters to fill those signs with. *Youknow I have a folder with over two hundred Fallout relevant posters in it (ie actual in universe ones such as adverts for Stimpaks, and other cool things like retro versions modern film posters. The retro posters for Fallout games though are the best).

I need to work through my backlog of terrain some more. Saying that I bought in some more bits, including some fencing (...I have a fetish for that stuff apparently), more cars and shipping boxes. At least I now have plasticard again, so I can bring myself to basing the shacks soonish. I'll try and push aside painting any figures until I've made a dent in the terrain. That said there's an NCR Veteran Ranger (something like my fourth attempt at one. Damn, I manage the Patrol Ranger first go, but keep screwing the veteran up)  sitting wanting to be finished on my desk right now.

I have a game of 7Zombie Tv coming up too, so I need to dig out my zombies to see if they need a touch up. If they don't (meh they're zombies), then I'll be going back to finding bits of scenery to paint. Yes buildings like the above instead of little bits. My boards are all ready an obstacle course enough (if I can see the wood underneath then that table hasn't enough cover on it!). =P

I had a go at some posters on a whim there. Now I thought that these would be a lot more complex than they turned out to be to glue on. My current glue's pretty strong, but it didn't leave any marks on the paper until I applied some ink to it. The glue markings actually left an all right weathering effect on the paper after the ink was applied.

The posters that I printed out were a little too big (I misjudge just how large a sheet of A4 is). These are the smaller ones applied to some of my older terrain. Overall I'm happy how they turned out though.

Now to build more terrain so I actually have stuff to plaster those to. =)

I'll be painting stuff later, but for the moment I've created a dropbox with posters related to the Fallout games in it.

Currently its sitting with:

188 Fallout Related Posters (including 22 that're meta advertisements for the games themselves)
48 Retro-ised Game Posters
72 Retro-ised Movie Posters
3 Retro-ish Pretty Shapes Posters (they had to go somewhere)

Now I don't know if I should make it public, or just provide it via PMs. I mean would it be secure if made available publicly? I donno, I don't really use the service. Whatever, for the moment send me a PM if you want a link. =)

Edit: These are what I've been printing off for my own (the unevenness isn't a massive issue when cutting them out, though I'll probably work on that).

Edit: Edit: I've added an example file (the image below) for aid in scaling (its just taking a while to upload if you can't see it right now). I'm also working through a couple of hundred more images, though I need to convert them all to .jpeg images, so uploading the may take a while.

I've updated the dropbox folder with more images. Currently its sitting at 532 images that I think are relevant to the setting (Ok with the odd retro Super Mario image in there as well). Great, now to convert the remaining 652 poster images (these are the interesting ones though. Not all just pin-ups and propoganda, there's adverts for bandages in there too!).

*Edit: I also have folders with other images like graffiti which I could upload as well. However in their case I'm not sure if people would have so much use for them. I mean with the posters all you need to do is cut out a rectangular square of paper, but with the graffiti that would be a bit more difficult unless you were printing on transparent paper. Whatever, it doesn't take much effort to upload those either. =P
