I will admit I was hoping for a 'fantasy' setting along with the 'normal' pirates.

Blame Amazon (and the like) if you must. They need (and release) pre-order information at least six months in advance. Nick will, I assure you, have much more information closer to the time of release, so North Star is definitely the place to keep an eye on.
