The figures are from Brigade Games' Mob Wars line, specificically the pack titled "Gangsters with BARs":

All I did was make green stuff bowlers and mustaches.

Cheers, Mancha!
 :D

And a cracking job you did, too.

All?  That was better than anything I would have thought to do!

They're a little too obviously Victorian rather than 20th century (which is why I decided not to pick them up earlier), and the shop's shut/out of stock now.

None of them really look like a teenage boy though, so no big loss there :(

Maybe a modern martial artist that might be converted?

I posted them in my own thread before (sorry if you thought they were new!), so this is sort of cheating.  lol

Ooh ooh, I wanna play:

Looks like I have the same Captain as Matakishi.

Very nice! Calculus in powered roller skates from "The Red Sea Sharks". Good piece of scratchbuilding.

This is a challenge for a not Tin Tin sculptor.  I bought the DVD animated set for a song recently, a Pulper's dream set of storylines.

You need to see Tintin and the Golden Fleece live action film from the 60's. Well worth the price of the recently remastered and released film on DVD.

Can anyone suggest 15mm figures for the same league?

Going back to Chang, I wonder if anyone makes 20mm or 1/72 Chinese civilians that I might be able to use for him.

Mad Lord Snapcase very kindly sent me a Copplestone Red Spear that I thought would do the trick, but he's bigger and stockier than Tintin.

For a long time, I've been trying to find a figure I could convert into Chang for a Tintin League.

What I need is something of a tall order: A Chinese or Asian civilian in the right scale, in rather plain dress, who is smaller than Tintin but not by more than a couple of mm. For reference the Tintin figure every (myself included) is the Copplestone one which is 29mm to the top of his head (30mm, if you include his famous hair tuft).

I don't mind figures of different sizes and heights, but proportionality forces me to be picky in certain cases. Just as the Captain had to be taller than Tintin, so does Chang need to be shorter, or at least not higher than 29mm.

I've thought about some of the Copplestone Chinese, but they're actually larger and bulkier than Tintin by a very noticeable amount. Obelisk's Boxer Chinese civilian line (now discontinued anyway) were mostly in dressed rather obviously in the more elaborate 19th century clothes and most of the men in that line were plump shopkeepers anyway. I've looked at the 1/72 Red Box Chinese boxers (thinking I might go one scale down) and they seen terribly cheap-looking and also in pretty much unsuitable and ridiculous combat poses. The IHMN Tongs don't seem like they would work either. Tsuba's Japanese would actually be a perfect size with the right type of face, but they're all in very heavy kit and conversion would be a nightmare.

Foundry doesn't seen to have any boxer civilians. Does anyone know if they ever did in the past? I know it's a long shot, but maybe there's an OOP figure I could use.

I don't expect to find exactly what I'm looking for and I can convert within reason. Is there anything even remotely close to what I'm looking for?

Why ever in the WORLD did you image Ol' Snappy was svelte?

Most of the "B" adjectives would fit, "beefy", "bulky", "brash", "broad" (as in beam, not babe) etc...

Mind you, I'm a fine one to talk, portly is as portly does...

THIS figure came immediately to mind, just had to recall when & where I'd seen "her".  Courtesy of the LAF thread "List of Pulp figure Manufacturers" http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=61108.0 one FramFramson put together I was on target in under 3 minutes...

"Kawashima Yoshiko, Japanese Agent

Item #: SH04
Price: $ 3
Sculptor: Leandro Ventic

Description
Chinese princess turned Japanese agent.  An actual historical figure,  she was known for wearing men's clothing and uniforms. (Pictured on the right.) Original price $3, on sale for $2 through Nov. 15!

Kawashima Yoshiko (also known as "Eastern Jewel") was a Manchu princess brought up in Japan and trained from an early age to hate the Chinese. Living among the upper class population of Shanghai with her lover, an Imperial Army officer, she was in fact secretly employed by Japanese Intelligence, and helped to destabilize the country in preparation for the planned Japanese invasion. A highly controversial figure, even today."
Approximately 27mm tall

From Black Army's Shanghai 1930 Range

"Her" picture seems more'n a bit androgynous,
(Kawashima Yoshiko I mean, Not "the Daft Devonian", aka MLS)
so absent the usual female lumps n'bumps should suit a teenager.

I've not sen this figure in the flesh, errr, lead, uh, pewter, so YMMV.

I think that there would still be a hell of a lot of conversion involved (Those are certainly not a man's hips, as the sculptor was good enough to depict. And the clothes are completely different), but it's no worse than several other suggestions.

one FramFramson put together

I'd watch out for that one. He's always up to no good.

Knowing nought of TinTin, absent mention of Rin,

I only tried to suggest a suitably tall, err, short, Oriental teenager.

NOW you decide WIDTH is an issue?

Jeez...

Recalls my (admittedly amateur) stage carpentry days past,
"With lights on they'll love it!!"

Only two actual, specific dimensions required for constructing functional platform, corridor, exit/entrance, &/or perch scenery:

MCH & MCW

measured amongst one's cast, & divided (very) by max quantity in said space at any given moment, one derives the necessary percentages to calculate:

MCH = Mean Cheek Height

and

MCW = Mean Cheek Width

Thus ensuring a viable lash up of scenery with minimal effort & materials without severely discommoding the actoids...

Ah well, I'm still glad you forced me to find "her" again...

Valerik

your mileage DID vary
