Sleestak! Or, "Not-Sleestak", Saleesa... Sssssss
« on: 15 January 2014, 11:36:34 PM »
Brian Cooke just sculped these for me, the initial castings have arrived!

I suppose I should wait to post painted pictures, but I can't wait.  The primer on my first batch is drying in the garage as I write this...

They're intentionally tall for 28mm figures, since they were played by basketball players on the old TV show.  The warriors are about 35mm tall from the bottom of their feet to the top of their heads, the leader is about 32mm from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head.

I've got a limited number of castings for sale ($5 each), if I sell enough of them I'll have another batch made, armed with crossbows and nets.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Indeed! Very cool figures.

Alex, you might want to list these in LAF's Bazaar of Obscurities -- http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?board=77.0

Oh that brings back memories of my childhood...any chance of a deal if you buy a large quantity? The idea of other sculpts with nets and their "awesome" crossbows is a fantastic idea...I would love to nab some of those as well if you get them produced. Please PM me if a deal is possible. Also how much is the shipping?

Your undead crocodiles were awesome and I wish I had purchased more back then.

Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

I'll post my response here for other folks to see:

I'm willing to do a deal if you order a large quantity - if you order 10 or more figures, I'll drop the price down to $4 each.

For shipping, I usually charge exact shipping rates.  The cost of the padded envelopes etc I cover myself.

To a US address, it's been around $3 for small orders, up to $5 for larger orders (huzzah for flat rate boxes!).

I just received mine today!  Folks: if you are on the fence about these, don't be.  These are excellent sculpts and well cast metal minis.  As soon as I get these painted I will try to post some pics.  Thanks Alex!

Hi Alex;
What a great day!! The figures arrived in perfect condition after a 3861 mi (or 6214 km) journey. Alex takes a great deal of care in packaging the figures, and the quality of the merchandise and the correspondence is second to none. He is a true gentleman when it comes to dealing with.

For those of you who have not purchased these magnificent figures....quit fence sitting and get them now while you can. The Sleestak figures look awesome with barely any flashing. Whoever does the casting for Alex is fantastic!! By supporting this project, Alex has indicated that he would commission a couple more sculpts - the crossbow armed sleestak, and the net armed sleestak. I for one can hardly wait for Alex to get the other figures sculpted. I will definitely put another big order together for the other sculpts immediately, once he announces that they are available. So get them now while you can because they will work in fantasy, pulp action, lost worlds, and even with Planet of the Apes, etc. The list of possibilities is endless!!

Once again Alex, it was a pleasure to do business with you. Keep churning out those great ideas....I know that I for one will continue to support you in your endeavours!!

Now if the weather would cooperate and warm up I could base coat them outside and get them painted to show them off here on LAF and on TMP!!
Regards,
Hitman

Thanks for the kind words and great feedback - Brian Cooke has nearly finished the second batch of bug-eyed lizardmen from the 1970's, here's a preview:

They should be available for sale in mid-to-late April.

I finally painted mine:

The new guys need a little work before I can send them off to the caster, but they'll be available later this summer.
