Didn't I post this on LAF somewhere?
« on: 28 January 2014, 10:45:58 AM »
Looking for other (besides this wonderful group) forums/groups/websites where I can get information on 15 mm war gaming?  SF, Fantasy, Historical, VS, etc., all good for me.

A much as I try not to use PMs it would be appropriate and prudent to not use LAF bandwidth/space to discuss other forums/groups/websites so if you have that option available I would suggest that as acceptable to me.

Gracias,

Glenn

Good manners and etiquette will always shine through.  :)

Post the links up here, unless you want to keep them to yourself when told about them.  ;)

AFAIK LAF has never been the 'sort of forum' which has a problem with posting links to other forums, especially if it will benefit other members who may be seeking the same thing themselves. To me it 'adds' to LAF that members can be directed to somewhat more specialist sites and blogs. We do it for uniform, historical and any other thing that you can think of, so why not the gaming scales which are under-represented here?

Obviously it would be great if LAF hosted everything that might be of interest to anyone, so there would be no need to go anywhere else, but it doesn't. Certainly it would be folly to try to pretend that there is nowhere else but here.    :)

The main issue will be they tend to be rule and period specific forums so not openly apparent

But it is so nice here... No "personalities" of the cranky old man sort (other than me on a  bad day,) you can talk (and not trash talk) about Napoleonic games/history, you can even disagree with each other with grace, and the "eccentrics" here are so much better mannered.

Gracias,

Glenn

Yes, it doesn't. Because it's LAF, it was never my intention to have this place for everything under the sun. There are too many interesting things out there, I am getting distracted way to easily. And from what I know just as all of you :)

That's David Kujit's site; he is one of the finest in the DBA community. I used to play DBA years ago, and David is a fine resource and a welcoming soul.  Of course he's Canadian, bit lives in the states and is a professor I believe.

Speaking of such things, fanaticus although somewhat drifting of late, remains a good 15mm resource - purely DBA related though.

PM'ed Glenn but am posting here as well for the benefit of others (if any!)

I am a die hard 15 mm enthusiast as you can see from my LAF moniker.  I started a yahoo group focused on this scale and this is the link to that sites link page:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FifteensFoundHere/links/all

Unfortunately, the group didn't really get the traction I'd hoped for.  I'd love to see a site similar to LAF with greater focus on that scale.  28 mm figures can paint up beautifully but the greater scope of 15 mm allows "larger" games in the same space.

Not without hazards, however.  Far too easy to collect way, way too many figures.

One thing that befuddles me.  There is substantial evidence that there are way more gamers in 15 mm than in 28 mm.  If that is the case (and who knows the actual truth), then why isn't there more discussion and display of that scale?  Or is it just down to the more photogenic nature of the larger and more detailed figures?

Hope the link to the links helps out as many as enjoy it.
