Go nuts, but as explained in some other places - Adobe was common in places where you didn't have any actual lumber to use in order to build wooden buildings. For instance in the desert in AZ you only had small (5-8' tall) mesquite trees...no actual large trees for lumber. So, if you're planning an area which recently had a railroad show up, then yes you could gladly do some tacked together structures. An old adobe town which is in the process of being modernized.
