Texas Adobe/wood buildings query

Do you inpatience and a suspect memory I've started to build my Sheriffs office as a small wooden building with adobe cells at the rear and am now unsure if this is realistic/plausible. I'm sure I've seen wood/adobe combinations similar in style but cannot trace a pic of what I'm looking for. I know there are a few Texians(?) on the forum so am hoping for some local wisdom, but wherever you are from if you have any advice it will be much appreciated...

Certainly plausible, though either the adobe or the wood is probably an addition to the other. Wood offices with brick cells was more desirable, but never underestimate the combination of frontier getting things done and government stinginess.

Cheers Cory, I was thinking of something tacked onto an existing adobe hut so hopefully it won't look too weird!
I'm going to post a WIP tomorrow so have a look and let me know what you think...

Go nuts, but as explained in some other places - Adobe was common in places where you didn't have any actual lumber to use in order to build wooden buildings.  For instance in the desert in AZ you only had small (5-8' tall) mesquite trees...no actual large trees for lumber.  So, if you're planning an area which recently had a railroad show up, then yes you could gladly do some tacked together structures.  An old adobe town which is in the process of being modernized.
