Scratchbuilt fantasy viking longhouses
« on: 18 February 2014, 07:24:25 AM »
Here is a project that I have been working on for a while. I built these viking longhouses from scratch (except for bits like the shields and barrels of course). They are for my fantasy viking army so they didn't have to be completely historical with sod/thatch roofs, more in the vein of Skyrim. 1600 scale roof tiles later I am almost wishing I went with thatch haha.

My photography sucks, I wish you could see all the tones of color in the individual boards but my pictures don't show it :(

I am going to make more stuff and eventually a Jarl's hall.

How do you post pictures here? I tried to put image tags before and after. Here is a link to the albums, if someone can help me post it here I would appreciate it.

Take your photobucket pics and in the album, click on "links" then select the bottom tab...paste it here.

That'll show the pictures in the thread.

Beautiful work.

Those are some mighty good looking houses. :-*
Very neatly built, well finished, and excellent painting on them. (The board and miniatures are great too!)

These look fantastic  :-*. I have plans to make various locations from Skyrim and these provide great inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful buildings.  The little details like the barrels really make them pop.
This is my boomstick!

Lovely stuff, you must have the patience gene for those roof tiles.

How did you achieve the scroll work on the timber support beam?

Shingles, Thatch, Tiles, or whatever, roofs are a pain...one of the reasons I love Mordheim is large sections of the roofs have been blown into the Ethereal Plane. That said your Viking Digs are WONDERFUL creations. The woodwork, plain & decorative, is OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!

Very nice houses!

And so many tiles... :o
What are they made from? Simple card or something special?

These are FANTASTIC! Loving the details (tiling, scrollwork, barrels etc) and the finish is excellent.
