Long time aspiration of mine, to build a lavish Laketown board. A wooden Venice if you like.

BLOODY BEAUTIFUL!

I just got done finishing some resin Acheson Creations houses.  For $8- $10 I figured I couldnt go wrong, but your work is superb! :D

Thanks for the comments guys :) I thought about using the Acheson creations ones but when I ordered them they were too small for the scale of minis I am using (32mm). But that order decided my next project because I liked the timber crossbeams they sent on their buildings and being smaller then mine I decided to make 4 viking tents with them. I got some striped cloth from the fabric store and will start working on them soon.

The scrollwork was done by drawing it on the balsa wood and then I used a mini screwdriver and exacto blade to carve it. Since it would be wood carving  I didn't mind the rough axe hewn carving look (my excuse for it not being super neat hehe).  The roof tiles were made from getting a craft punch of a flower petal from the craft store and some textured paper and punching out 1600 tiles. I know I am crazy but I like the scale tiles you see on viking temples/halls and in games like Skyrim and Viking the tales of Asgard. I suppose Rohan buildings were a slight inspiration as well but that might have been subconsious. I have some ideas for super decorative stuff I will do on the hall but since these took me 60 hours to finish I can't imagine what that will take so I will work on some smaller projects for now haha.

I am wishing I had done the crossbeams in pine instead of balsa (balsa was already precut that width) because I broke two of them while painting and I am sure one of us hamfisted gamers will break them again on the table

If you have trouble with the Balsa breaking, use this tip;

Prick holes in the balsawood and then flood the wood with very viscous superglue and allow to fully set. If you do it right it will be as hard as plastic card.

Once again great buildings and inspirational use of the petal cutter.
