Hello all, I am looking for as much information on the first Barons war, any book references, links, eye candy will be much appreciated!! I am after some information on the heraldry and livery of both the rebel Barons and the French to help in my painting quest!

I'd start with King John if I were you...and his revenge on the people for the Magna Carta.

If your going down the king John route to start with, try these two links for the  heraldry of the time :-

Or if your going later there may be somthing here for you?

You might be interested in googling 'William of Kensham' or 'Willikin of the weald' for information on the resistance to the French invasion. There was an article about him in Vol 111, Issue six of Medieval warfare magazine, just recently too.

Also mentioned is 'Blood Cries Afar: The Forgotten Invasion Of England 1216 by Sean McGlynn' which I have just checked out on Amazon and it definitely going on my wish list as I am quite interested in this period too.

The battle of Lewes is the second Barons war but well worth a game or two :)

Interesting stuff. I had a look at some of the links, given me some more ideas when I get round to finishing my fantasy Bretonnians, someday!
