Captain Whistlocke (and hello too)
« on: 24 February 2014, 05:52:47 PM »
Hi,

Long time lurker, I thought it was about time I registered here ! And a painted mini is always a good first post.
I just finished Captain Whistlocke from Red Box Games, it's my first miniature after a quite long break from painting. I was very surprised how well it took the paint, as the tiny size of Tre minis can be a bit initimidating (for me at least!).

The pics!

WELCOME ABOARD! That is a BEAUTIFULLY painted & based little hero, AND a FINE introduction. The freehand on tabard & shield is OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!

What a great paintjob.

And ace basing too! Look at all those little details.

An excellent paint job. I really like your subtle changes in color and smooth transitions. Using a range of pastel shades really suits this miniature and the free hands are outstanding. They really look three dimensional and have a lot of depth to them. I also like the base, especially the "fern". What did you use to depict this?

To get the best presentation possible for your artwork I would suggest using a neutral background or scenic backdrop.

Do not like it
Poor work
Not a good base

You should never show it again - send it to me and I'll love it and treasure it  lol

Failing that - welcome to the board and WOW what an entrance.  Very neat and tidy paint work with a great wild base to go with it.

Lets see some more please!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Peithetairos, the ferns are etched brass items, I think those were bought from Hasslefree. The rest of the base is just regular static grass and the leaves are natural thingies from the real world (I think they're called birch pods) painted over with washes and a few highlights.
