Landshark company
« on: March 10, 2014, 03:16:49 PM »
This is a whimsical take on a 'Sharknado' style monster based company for use in games of IHMN.   Nothing is meant to be 'realistic' but I did try to keep the honor in the mechanics.  It could be used with some cultists if you'd rather think of the background as an demon rather than a mutation, albeit Dr. Munro might have considered this after a bad batch of seafood.

Sort of taking pieces of the old (1970's) SNL Land Shark skit and elements of last year's 'Sharnado' (if you have not seen 'Sharknado'it, you are two hours aof your life ahead of me.)

The whole story, including the hook to the era in IHMN, is on the blog entry explaining the first pass of the company.

Here are the stats so that players can see where I am going with the company.  Comments are welcome.

Of course we need the Land Shark as the kingpin in the company.  So:

Land Shark:
Pluck:  3+  (16)
Move 6" plus 3"  (2) (he's big)
FV 4+  (16)  (between his teeth and his temper)
SV  0 (he does not need to throw things)
Protection  11 (16) (sharkskin suit)
Leadership 3+ (9)  (would you say 'no' to him?)
Swimming  (2) (Obviously, would not be much of a shark...)
Terrifying (10)  ( look at 'im, need I say anything?)
Fearless (10)  ( not afraid of anything)
Numb (10) (Cold blooded)
Berserker (5)
Land Shark total: 96

Sharks
Pluck 5+ (3)
Move 6" plus 3"  (2)  (to keep up with the big guy)
FV 3+  (7)
SV 0
Protection 11 (16) (sharkskin suit)
Swimming  (2) (Obviously, would not be much of a shark...)
Fearless (10)  ( not afraid of anything)

Shark total: 40

Cultists:
Pluck:  5+ (3)
Move 6"
FV 0
SV  0
Protection  8 (1) (Heavy Robes)
Leading cultist can take Cloud men's minds (8), Harden(8),  Erudite Wit (5) ;  Pluck for the leader can be increased to 4+ (4)
Cultist can have knife (3) or Sacrificial (large) Knife (3) or a pistol (3)

Leading Cultist Pluck 4+, Cloud men's minds (8), Harden(8),  Erudite Wit (5), knife for a total of 32

Candygram?

Telegram?
"Something had happened in the dim past...! A natural disaster coupled with Radiation! The people in the bunkers lived out their lives and died dreaming of a day of return---The radiation would be gone---and the world would be left waiting---"

Back in the 1960's a CandyGram was a box of chocolates, delivered to a location where your favorite girl lived.  Instead of 'telegram,' the delivery was announced 'CandyGram.'  In the skit, the Landshark knocked (always politely) and said from behind the door "CandyGram."  The rest of the scene involved the shark attack which was reminiscent of the movie "Boston Stranger."   And they girls of SNL just kept answering the door.  It was one of those skits with enormous traction, for over a decade you could get a laugh just by saying, 'Knock, knock......pause....CandyGram."

if the cultists are part of the land shark company shouldn't they be required to wear "yum-yum"yellow robes as sharks are supposed to be attracted to yellow quickest??  ???
just sayin'  :D
out of curiosity you know. >:D

This is a great idea.  That Reaper wereshark came out very well.

@Landshark skit:  That bit always reminds me of Jane Curtin.
This is my boomstick!

Gun Bunny, I'd agree on the yellow for eats, but the cultists are in for multiple games and eras, red seems to work the best.  The chief said red, and who am I to argue with she that cooks my meals?

Dooms Dave- do you remember Jane doing the deadpan," I am not wearing anything under my jacket" on the  'SNL News Report?'

I remember that.  Those were the days that SNL actually made me laugh.
