Pulp Alley AAR - A Very Dangerous Delivery
« on: March 16, 2014, 02:58:54 AM »
Since Dad has been sick we’ve had to play our games in a different area and the lights are not as good. I’m sorry the pics didn’t turn out so hot, but I think some of them are still worth sharing.

The major objective for me was to deliver a truck full of supplies to the campsite. Mikala’s mission was to hijack the truck. And of course there were a bunch of minor plot points scattered around, like diggers, archeologists, riverboat captain, and an ancient artifact.

Oh, did I mention Mikala also got to use a plane?

Mikala’s leader stealthily sneaks past Pulp Girl.

Pulp Girl’s allies, Bowler, Mike, and Naga, all scatter as Mikala’s plane swoops in to drop a couple small bombs.

Luckily the bombs missed my truck.

Pulp Girl reaches the riverboat captain but is ambush by a mean old croc and spends the next 2 turns trying to avoid being eaten.

A cool thing about the plane rules is how they have to fly around rather just sitting in the same spot. This means it’s pretty tough to just keep attacking the same target over and over.

Mikala’s tiger runs down the diggers (plot point)!

And her leader grabs the ancient artifact (plot point)!

The plane made several attacks on the truck but just couldn’t score a decent hit.

The tiger leapt on the truck and quite easily cleared it. Bowler jumped out one side and was caught in one of the stray bomb blasts.

Pulp Girl and Badonka took a moment to trade some hot lead, leaving both of them injured.

Next, Pulp Girl activates and Mikala immediately hits her with Out of Ammo and Unseen Peril. And the peril just happens to be a 3 with any skill! Mikala said the peril was a stray chunk of shrapnel from one of the bombs. I decided to use Dodge and avoided the peril.

Then I climbed on the speeding truck (passed the extreme peril) and came face-to-face with Mikala’s ferocious tiger. The brawl was fierce, with both characters getting injured and then Mikala played a Knockback card. So, guess where she placed Pulp Girl? Right in front of the truck of course!

Showing no sign of slowing, the truck smashes into Pulp Girl, who was already at a d6 Health. This time I fail the peril, so thump-thump and Pulp Girl is down!

Another very fun game. I’m thinking I should have defended the truck a little better instead of going after so many of the minor plot points. I went for too much and ended up with only 1 plot point, Mikala ended with 3 plot points.

The new vehicle rules add extra excitement but keep the action fast of easy to play. I don't mean we'll want a plane in every game, but it sure is fun to have one zooming around once in awhile.

Dad literally has 3-4 pages to finish on the new vehilces book and then it’s sent off to the editor.;)

Sounds like a great game. Aircraft, fights on a moving truck - very cinematic! Looking forward to the vehicle rules.

Bill.

The photos are fine - still easy to tell what's going on. Great AAR.

By the by, we've all seen Shaytan many times, but I'm not sure you've shown us Mikala (though I recognize those bases)? What mini is that?

Pulp Girl seems to be having a hard time of it recently. First, she was captured in 'Pulp Girl Death Trap' and now she's run over by a speeding truck!  :o This is real Pulp with the heroine in constant danger.

Another great game and report thanks. It was interesting as well to see the plane in action. It was good to see that it didn't dominate the game.

This is exactly what I was hoping to see in the new rules.

I wish your Dad a speedy recovery and I am looking forward to buying the new book when it comes out.

Good vibes to your dad. Get well soon, Dave!

I love the way the airplane rules seem to work. Nothing worse than rules that allow for pinpoint air strikes over and over. That gets old really fast.

I think the one you're asking about is the Egyptian belly dancer from Blue Moon. She's in one of their sets.

Looks like fun! And let me add my best wishes to dear old Pop's recovery...!

Did he try to struggle out of bed to the game table when he heard the game commence...?
