Hey you're talking to a guy who took a nice crescent moon out of his middle finger the other day with an xacto knife...it's healing... lol

This is awesome. The technique is basically the one I tried out on my little corsair boat in my Ithilien thread but so much better implemented. Really very well done. And thanks for the links to the construction thread. Really cool - though I think he didn't paint the ship right - it looks too busy for me.Somehow too red. But that's just my personal taste.

Anyway, your ship Looks great and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Thanks all.  I am dreading painting it as never painted anything so big before and its all wood  o_o.

The second sail is on and i am much happier with this one.

Great work so far - love the way you have done those sails.

It has been a week since the last post - where's the next update?  ;)

Well, I found it easiest to sprapaint the ship black, then spray a fine mist of white over it and then just use various Browns washes. Mind you, very thin washes, more water then anything. That way you can cover huge areas very quickly and have various colors on the ship to reflect the wathering and aging of the wood. Of course you would have to rework the metal parts. It might be feasable to remove the masts and sails first.

Looking good but might suggest a bit more drybrushing on the deck to help bring it out bit more  :)

cheers

Looking more than suitably sinister.  Well done.  I agree some highlights or added colours could bring out some more detail.
