Makes me think that some adobe buildings can be one of my near future projects. Got the foam board, polyfilla, maybe just need some more balsa wood for things.

Cheers all. Think I overdid the PVA when putting the sand on as it's only just dry. I've bought another of the Badlands sets, the Bluff this time. Need lots of rocky outcrops and levels to represent the ravine that Quebrada del Toro sits in.

Looking good ;D

Now I feel the need to make some more lol

Please do, you're adobes are my main inspiration even if mine haven't quite turned out as nice as yours. More inspiration that I can steal for my town is always welcome :D

Looking good, mate!
 :-* :-*

I like the idea of the optional second storey.
I shall be nicking that idea for my 'multi-genre' adobe buildings when I get around to them.
 8) :D 8)

The idea came when I was about to by some resin "pirate" buildings from Games of War. They're very nice but I realised they were nothing more than an adobe with an additional floor just a bit more spanish colony looking. If my plan comes off I'll have both tiled roof and flat roof options. Just need to find something for the tiles.

As to stealing the idea, feel free :) I'll be nicking that crate "ladder" idea. It's a great idea for both cover and roof access in a town with no stairs lol.

Yesterday I finished painting the badlands bluff to match the badlands rocks set. I took the opportunity to take more staged "gunfight" photos.

On the outskirts of Quebrada del Toro, the Marshal and his deputies take refuge in an abandoned homestead. The bandito leader Cubo de Panza and his men surround the buildings hoping to wipe out the Marshal and his nuisance causing once and for all.

Next on the to do list, boxes, crates, water troughs, hitching posts and cacti.

Looks mighty fine!  :-* The sheriff and deputies seem to be in a real tough spot.

What colours did you use for the rocks, if I may boldly enquire? And for the abode buildings?

Those badlands rocks look good. Great stuff. :)

Thanks chaps :)
What colours did you use for the rocks, if I may boldly enquire? And for the abode buildings?

The rocks were painted GW Balor brown all over, ogryn flesh wash (now Reikland flesh shade) over the rocks themselves leaving the desert sand Balor brown. Dry brushed with foundry desert sand A then desert sand B. Once that's done I just added some grassy tufts.

The adobe was painted same colours. A base of Balor brown with successive dry brushes of the desert colours leaving it wetter at the top of the building where the colour needs to be more solid. After the desert colours was a final painting of bone and white.

Ok, sounds simple enough for me to try it out on my Badlands rocks :)

Cheers!

It really is simple. And I like to keep it simple as I forget to write colour schemes down and I'd forget if it was too complicated lol

I'M BACK!

I've been away from my old West project for some time and as always (usually this time of year) I feel it drawing me back in. In order to keep everything together this thread will host all updates on my project.

Taking a slightly different approach to my town, Quebrada del Toro is now my main town, on the border with Mexico allowing me to mix Adobe and wooden structures. Schitte Creek is history (for now). This will also stop confusion with Mason's well established Upsheet Creek  :D

Now to the first part of recent work. A few lawmen for Quebrada del Toro.

Cheers fellas. It's good to be back. Lots to catch up on in this part of the forum. I have a large building I'm working on that I hope to show some progress of this week. Larger even than my saloon!

A little update. Two more lawmen painted. Finally I may have enough to beat the horde that is my Bandito gang.

A WIP of the next building for the town, a livery stable. A few small details to finish and one big one, the removable hayloft, then to paint it.
