Connectamabob, it's actually a surprisingly popular research project "How do I perform X task under the influence of Y"?
The amount of google results I found looking for this one: http://www.openculture.com/2013/10/artist-draws-nine-portraits-on-lsd-during-1950s-research-experiment.html was actually rather disturbing...

Oh and this one: http://www.trinity.edu/jdunn/spiderdrugs.htm
There seems to be a rather high level of "hold my beer and watch this" amongst certain parts of the scientific community....

Painting on Drugs! "It's not what you think..."

Actually, it's exactly what I thought. There was a period where I seemed to need a different major operation every two years. Once, what I thought was natal-only, an epidural, became my best friend for five days.

However, I wish mightily I'd seen this thread earlier.

'Geese, how do you paint on those tiny tablets?'

Scary part, I've seen pills (Prilosec?) that look like the photon torpedoes from Star Trek II...
