Nice work guys. I very much like the paintwork on the tartan; it's understated whilst conveying the look very well. I must admit to having my curiosity peaked by this round only to find I had misread the title. There were no African Beavers.

Excellent entries both!

I quite like the log thrower and the shot putter in the background there, pretty funny!

thanks,
n.

I think I'll have to get some of those highlanders for Pike & Shot and Zombies. I sport a belted plaid at festive occations myself, so I think should paint up a party of those...

So, who makes them, please?

I think this match is difficult to judge; very different painting styles, and both very nice results...

Great work on the loincloths Malcolm. Those guys really are black - must be right on the Equator  ;)

Love the Highlanders too. Tossing the caber  lol

The 3 highlanders in the middle are from warlord games.
The 2 at the back and on the left and right are (i think) old citadel figures.

Thanks Orctrader. Really lovely subtle shading on your bearers. Very nice!
Also possibly the best real african looking bases i have seen.

Yes there are old citadel, the limited Clansmen for the 1980s McDeath pack (to get all for costs about £80+ now I guess..)

It says something when the guy with none of those gorgeous plaids outshines the others -- simply put, that is a masterful job of shading. He looks so realistic! Like he step out of the screen and order a wee dram...!

OK, thanks! The Warlord ones go on my to-buy list. Old Citadel, not so much... Probably cost twice their weight in gold these days  lol

This is really hard. On a first glance the Highlanders look better but it' really worth looking at the Bearer's more closely. Both entries are really good. A pleasure looking at them.
