The kids in the second pic have this weird blurry look, as if they're actually running and, therefore, out of focus.  That and the greater color vaiation earned my vote.

The blush on the old woman is a fantastic little detail that I almost missed.

This one was really hard for me to vote on, while I like the detail and painted robes on the second entry, I'm jealous of how perfect the dark skintones on the first one are!

Two really strong entries - great skin tones on the Bearers, and a lovely naturalistic palette on the Arthurian entry (which also tells a nice story!)

Hi, thanks for all the positive comments. Just thought as there has been so much said about my skin technique I'd share it with you as it is dead easy. All I do is black undercoat, basecoat gw scorched brown, highlight gw bestial brown, gw devlan mud wash then rehighlight with bestial brown. Simple.

Well done to Lt. Hazel great looking entry! Was dreading coming up against one of you amazing painters and look who roles up in round 1! Never mind I don't mind losing to that.
