Finished second module:

The two modules together:

Point and shoot:

High Resolution:

And a bunch of close-ups...

Our Marine hero:

Another new Marine at the entrance to the colony:

Inside the cargo bay:

Another cargo bay shot:

Inside of a storage room with an added and should be quite familiar poster:

As an aside, the modules are each 290 mm x 400 mm.

Oh yea, for props, I will probably be getting a bunch of stuff (and scientists) from Ainsty and Antenociti's Workshop in the not to distant future.

Hope you like the shots.

Great idea, its a good way to do space ships and bases. Id like to see some connecting corridors and a generator room!

Right now I'm trying to get the "big" things done, so I figure I need to do at least one more large box.  Dunno at this point, the big boxes are difficult and quite time consuming... perhaps a corridor or two would be a good idea, just to take a break from major construction.

Well...

It's been awhile since I spammed the forum on this project...   :)

I took Ramshackle's advice and decided to build some corridors.  This was a great idea (thank you very much Ramshackle) as it has given me a concrete idea of how to design my base overall.

First, though, I also bought a bunch of stuff from Antenocitis Workshop including some computer screens.  I painted these up fast and here is how they came out:

I then glued them to various places around my base and this is what they look like:

Now back to the structure... I built two corridor pieces and they look like this:

When I put the whole base together it looks like this from overhead:

Ideally, I need two more structures to connect to the passageways of the box on the right of the photo.  I figure a large room (lab or something) and an airlock.

I have also finished my colonial marines... but haven't had the time to prepare the pictures.  I'll do so later this evening.

Wow... what a project!  A lot of work here and I'm pretty much exhausted (as probably you folks are having to painfully watch my progress).  So I'll be taking a break and working on my Adventurers and Shadowforge Tribals (I got their new Heavy Cavalry mounted on Dino's.. Yea!) for some time to come.  I shall return and finish the project, I just need a break.

Thanks guys.

And as threatened promised... here are a couple pics of my finished Colonial Troopers (em4 miniatures):

Group shot:

And some nice close-ups:

By-the-by, these mini's were all painted, head to toe, using the Foundry Triad System.  It was the first time I used them and I really like the paints but if you really, really want a good finish (as I found out on this batch) you need to thin down the highlights and shades... which I didn't.

So for now, my Space Base project goes into limbo... I do have some more more mini's (Colonial Security) and a bunch of props from Antenocitis Workshop, including their Hopper vehicle, but I'll give everybody a rest for now...  ;D

I get more and more confident that my (in the planning stage) 2'x2' pyramid project with rearrangeable interiors is actually possible! Your corridors are pretty much done the way I'm thinking to do corridors/rooms (with a subtly different finish, though....).
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

The crucial element here is planning.  You just can't do enough.

The corridor sections were completely scratch built and intended to be identical.  Even so, one is a couple millimeters bigger than the other.  That is because, for my project, I had a hard enough time doing the interiors never mind making the exteriors capable of moving around.  For me, this project is a "crawl before you walk" kinda experience.

IMO, the key to making a module set-up which is inter-changeable is getting the exterior right first.  To do that you have to spend a lot of pre-planning on how your interior is going to be laid out.

Believe me, that is not an easy task, but I'm sure you will figure it out.   ;)
