These are from Aventine. The problem is you only get two per pack with the Republican general, but he is such a nice model, and so is the injured servant that I wasn't fussed buying two packs. Foundry do some in their Imperial Roman range. 1st Corps do them in their command packs that are a little smaller. Agema have some beautiful new ones but I looked at them at Salute and they were smaller still and very thin. Loverly models but I'm not sure they would have fitted in next to all of the Mark Sims, Copplestone and Saleh sculpts...

Yes I'll go for 4 Aventines, like you.   I have a couple already.  I want one of the wounded chaps, too.  :-)

A better picture of the Lictors. Simon the 1st corps lictor is the second from the right, the rest are Aventine. Foundry magistrate.

Another group of rioters. Aventine miniatures with a Gorgon miniature for good measure.

Some thugs with bows. Foundry and A and A miniatures I think? Maybe they are Crusader?

Great stuff, Mark, well painted. I'm surprised this 1stCorps Lictor looks that good compared to Aventine. I've got them all and actually the 1stCorps guy is really small but being painted and on standing on a base it works quite good. I maybe shall consider painting mine as well.

Hello all

Mark, those thugs with bows have any special rule in the battleboard or they just act normally as Warriors with bows?

They are great and a unit its not bad to add on my force.

Cheers

Hi chaps,
Thanks for the nice messages. Nervisfr they are coming on pretty fast, but bare in mind I started quite a while ago. The most recent three shots are from the last month those. Romans in just a tunic are very quick to paint.

Prof - the 1st corp figure was left out originally for the same reason, but based up looks fine. He looks like a smaller adult but he is not wildly different from the others.

Rui - i was experimenting with different troop types in my rules. Ive allowed each mob to have up to a single unit of thugs with bows. This gives them a L missile range, but I reduce their armour down to 3 as compensation. There are no hard and fast rules! My list is unofficial! Play with what figures you want and don't be restricted by lists!

Thanks again! More rioters next and some civilians!

Mark

Do we have a timeline on the article?  :P

Now I think I need some of those rock throwers to add in to my force/s.
Cheers,

Hello all

Mark, many thanks for the tips on Saga.
I have to try them as Warriors (thugs) or Levies (great unwashed).
Gang versus gang might be to strong but gang versus legionaires force might work better. :)

Cheers

The article I am writing should be done this weekend. How long before it is published? I'm not sure! It depends if Guy at WSS likes it and assuming he does when there is space in the magazine for it. I'm afraid it won't be for a few months at least!

Poiter50, the rioters are just javelin men with bits of grit from my sharp sand stuck on instead of their javelins. There are lots of others done in the mob pictures earlier in this thread using Greek and Numidian javelin men as a basis.

Cheers

Mark
