Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated.

Re terrain: I'd like to do some boards, with features such as  a river line, a koppie, room for a small village/kraal etc.
have to try and make it work for both 20 & 28mm. Just random thoughts at the moment.

Here's the whole lot. Eureka miniatures Rhodesian African Rifles:

After rescuing the MAG bi-pod from the bin, I misplaced it again and made a replacement from bits. It looks a tad long now looking at the pics. Also had a go at getting some white into the eyes, but after cocking it up repeatedly, I've left them black.

I can't believe you even tipped the tracer rounds on the MAG gunner's ammo belt...  :o

Show-off.  ;)

Truly nice work. The period is becoming so tempting. I'm tipping that the CoC variant for Modern Wars will push a few people over the edge for this period. I even searched for a battered old Bedford on Ebay the other day.

.....love to see some more of your brushwork.

I like your flesh tones...what colours? Do you ink/dip?

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. These were great fun to do.
Think I'll go back and cut down that bi-pod, was not until I looked at it on screen that the legs looked so long.

@ Arlequín: Well spotted; I can't take credit for the tracer rounds idea, I saw it on this most excellent blog. .
http://johnwynnehopkins.wordpress.com/

These Eureka minis were the first thing that was big enough to make it worth trying out.

@ Happy W: The skin on the RAR blokes is Vallejo German cam.black/brown, highlighted with...Vellejo Highlight Germ.(Black) 337. Bottom lip a touch of Vallejo Burnt Cad.Redy. Then a couple of washes of the original colour and a wash of very thin black.

The Selous Scout was Vallejo Flat flesh (955), washed with a thin brown and highlighted with Vallejo light flesh. The Portuguese troops were Vallejo 912 Tan yellow as a base, a wash of some old citadel (GW) flesh wash, then highlighted with flat flesh and a bit of light flesh (Vallejo)

Going to be back to 20mm after this, I've got the new RAR minis from Under Fire on order . . . Time to break out the glasses again!

The 20mm figure could almost be a bushman scout.  ;)

John's blog is excellent, as a button counter and proud, now knowing how many water trailers a RAR battalion had was a moment of lifelong fulfilment for me.

lol
