I am in the middle of reading Ernest Satows diplomat in Japan, on the section of Britains attack on Shiminoseki he refers to the British as Bluejackets, so I am asking anyone in the know, would the British be wearing the same type of uniform as they wore in places like India and New Zealand. There is only one reference to redcoats so I would take it that they were few in number.
By the way, it's a great book with a great insite to Japan at the time
