First group of 8 done of Shogunate summer uniform. Also, bought some minis from Foundry which turnt out to be 25mm so size wise dont quite match up with Bac Ninh and Perrys. But as i will be using them for Sharp Practice it shouldnt show to much

If the Foundry mins rifles are roughly the same size as the Bac Ninh an Perrys, they can just count as some shorter troops.

They don't look too badly out of scale and if they're in their own units I don't see a problem  :)

It's going to look really interesting with all the different unit types on the table  8)

cheers

As say James, in their own units can work well.

I am in the middle of reading Ernest Satows diplomat in Japan, on the section of Britains attack on Shiminoseki he refers to the British as Bluejackets, so I am asking anyone in the know, would the British be wearing the same type of uniform as they wore in places like India and New Zealand. There is only one reference to redcoats so I would take it that they were few in number.

By the way, it's a great book with a great insite to Japan at the time

I would assume he's referring to the naval troops? There's that great picture of them all surrounding the captured guns at Shiminoseki and as far as I can tell they are all naval.

cheers

Cheers James, he does make mention of the Marines along with the bluejackets so wondered if he was referring to different troops, he does make mention of cavalry troops later in the book as well, but no mention of uniform. Pic from book

The caption says 'allied naval forces' so I wonder if he is referring to other countries troops?

There is a book I found in Japan in, of all places, a small supermarket cafe that might have some info on them. I couldn't take it with me but I did take a picture of the cover. I'll have a look for it on Sunday as I keep meaning to buy it myself.

cheers
