Thanks fellas, very kind.
Ps Whats your Khaki recipe Cubs?
Hmmm ... pass. I mix up my own colours into (mostly) 4 stage sets and label them accordingly with a swatch on the front (so I can mix up more when it runs out).
For these models I used (my own labels of course, but they're fairly self-explanatory) -
Buff Leather - the tunics and trousers.
Khaki Brown - the satchel and water bottle straps (also the ground).
Dull Leather (with extreme highlights added) - the Sam Bowne belts and holsters.
Butternut - the pistol lanyards (with brown ink) and the poshteen exterior.
Chocolate Brown - the poshteen fur lining and water bottle.
Linen mixed with Butternut - the cloth cover for the helmet.
Italian Yew - the sword scabbards.
What I tend to do when planning to mix a new colour up, is decide in advance what sort of shade I want it to be and how it will be different from the others I have. Then I just buy a bunch of paints and mix them up until I get the shade/s I want. It then gets labelled and stacked up next to the others. I have more browns than anything else - those above obviously, but also Dirt Brown, Ochre, Red Leather, Sand, Demison and possibly a couple of others I've forgotten.
