Wow again!!  :o

I'm not really into fantasy subjects, but both of these are superb  :-*

A very very tough decision.

Wonderful muted tones and all round grungy grottiness from Nord. Wonderful, iridescent colours from Neldoreth. Brilliant figures all round. Well done both of you. Love them.

Yip! This is one of those ones where you see the first entry and go 'WOW!' and expect that to be an easy win, then you scroll down and see another fabulous entry and suddenly realise it's not anywhere near as one sided as you thought!!

Stunning gents!! :o :o

Yes a tough match. Very emblematic for this Season of LPL, to my taste,  as it may be the one with the highest number of quality match ups ever.

Hat of, Nord! ou really know how to pull off the subtle natural look. I am not saying I thing it is necessarily better than a more vivid pallet but you really know that style.

Whoever I don't pick, be assured that it's all because of the coin toss. This is probably one of the closest matched pair I've seen in the long history of LPL

Hot damn this is a tough one. Nord you have got the natural look down pat. Stunning.

Neldoreth, your painting and palette really emphasasizes the ethereal quality of the figures... Awesome. I also have to ask who makes those miniatures?

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I love that pumpkin/Jack O'Lantern theme running through your undead stuff. The orange and blue is just killer.

Very nice composition and figures there Nord, I really like the multi-base!

From left to right:
  • Male Lich Wizard is from Reaper
  • Female masquerade ball liche/skeleton is an out-of-production fig from Freebooter
  • The floating wizard with crows is from Valiant Miniatures
  • The screaming undead banshee their is from Reaper.
  • The wolf is an old Ral Partha figure

Thanks

Those are, I believe, birch seed pods. Used to be available from Antenocitis, dunno these days.

I'm still waiting for my birches to set some seeds to see if I can get something useful out of them...  ::)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Those are indeed Birch pod seeds. The best way to get them is to pick them off of Birch trees right now! Or maybe it's already a little late, but they should still be kicking around on the ground though. Grab them, break them up, put them in the oven at about 200F for a while and they'll be dry and ready to go. If you want painted ones you can paint them once they're on.

Thanks
n

Yes, birch seeds ftw!  ;)

Thanks for the comments guys, this was possibly my favourite unit I painted last year, the army of the dead is such an excellent kit. I have seen them used as spirits of course, but thought they made more convincing undead warriors than any other model around. Mine are a dowdy bunch, but with all those robes and fabrics, different armour surfaces, you could really go to town on them if you wanted something more colourful.

And thanks to Neldoreth, I know what I will be doing today. Two birch trees in my garden, pods all over the patio, I can pretend I have a sudden interest in tidying up the garden. Might pop mine into the microwave, should be the same drying effect.
