Thanks guys  :)

The promised images of painted minis....all 102 done over about 10 days immediately before BLAM  :o

Starting with what it was all about... the supplies.  These didn't actually get used as no trading or pillaging took place (it was all too bloody for that!).  There are bits by Boothill Miniatures (our very own Malamute's trading emporium), by Miniature Mojo (my own store) and various places I sadly don't remember.

The packhorses that carried the supplies.  Three were actually recycled from my old FIW project, the larger two are by Essex Miniatures (I think) and the smaller one is by Ebob.  Some have converted loads.

The Migrant Traders.  These chaps manage the packhorses and other supply related issues.  They are all conversions from the Perry Miniatures Crusades range (pilgrims and priests).

The Northern Guard, defenders of the border, they loathe the cold.  First up is the Captain (base denoted by his very own rock that he takes everywhere) and four Elites.  All are conversions, in this case from the Perry HYW range, including the added cloaks.

Then we have the NG Warriors who are converted from a mix of Perry Crusades and HYW. The pole weapons come from a number of places, including the Perry WotR mixed weapons set, some bits from Perry WotR plastics and some spears from I think Conquest Normans.

And lastly the NG Soldiers, all armed with crossbows, again being a mix of Perry Crusades and HYW conversions.

The indigenous inhabitants of the northern wilderness are the Bear People, who are despised by the Northern Guards.  These were all entirely sculpted by me - no commercial parts used, not even dollies - and comprise 12 heads, 12 arms/weapons and 12 bodies.  I also made the vulcanised moulds and did the spin casting. Incidentally, I plan to double the size of this force and the multiparts will give me plenty more combinations to ensure no repetitions.  First up is the Captain (also with his personal rock) who isn't assembled from the the 12-set multiparts but is actually a separate two-piecer, and 8 BP Elites armed with big axes and machete-like swords.

Then we have the BP Warriors, who have spears or a pair of small axes

And then the BP Soldiers, with their recurve bows (the waist quivers were separate castings)

The final group of minis is the wolves (all from Miniature Mojo).  These prowl the board, picking off solitary figures on whom they feed.

With these being painted so quickly (though it was a case of stamina than speed!) there are improvements that could be made but I'm actually quite pleased that I made the progress I did  :) Btw I also have some sledges and bears to finish that didn't make the deadline so they will follow idc.

We can all paint, convert or remodel to some degree but to say I want a certain type of figure find out what you want doesn't exist and then decide to just make it yourself, now that's inspiring. Bloody marvellous.

Cheers for all the comments  :D

The Boer War board will recommence soon while I am giving thought to how the Bear People might be marketed (I'm inclined towards re-moulding some as one-piece casts, as metal multiparts can be a hassle except to those that like them!).  I also have the lake, the bear cave, bears, sledges, dogs, waystation, encampment and castle to finish plus the rules to fine-tune and solo play cards to make.  Then there's the store to restock and reopen around about the end of the month.....  :o

Anyways,  this thread is very much the 'work in progress' and as such the content bounces around as I move from one thing to another.  I see WWW as one of my long-lasting projects and so i have collated together all the so far completed stuff into a website that will run alongside but a little behind this thread.

Many thanks to Captain Blood, Eric The Shed and AndyM whose pictures I have borrowed and also to Captain Blood for his game report that I have repeated verbatim (with credit given, of course).

The website can be found at:

Thanks again!  :)

Great site Steve  :)

Thanks Richard

I've now added a page which cover paint schemes, cloak making, snow textures, river water, etc, the sort of stuff that I'll need to be reminded of to repeat.

http://www.winterwreakswild.uk/index_how.html

The river water is a multi-multi-stage process but it should prove stable and strong!

Edit: images that weirdly floated the wrong way round on some devices are now fixed!

Do you mind sharing some of your secrest for the build?  I'm really curious now that they're 100% done, what is your opinion about the technique you used for the cloaks? They look great and you did a very nice job of making them look windblown.  How do they feel from a durability standpoint?
