Bought loads of stuff.............. afraid to paint it
« on: 16 July 2008, 09:30:24 AM »
Has anyone else had this.

Massive splurge on figures vehicles recently.

Made some old ones, undercoated loads, all ready to go.

I look at it and think oh gosh, I'm almost too afraid to get the brushes out.

Bit like the jips in golf I suppose or Eric Bristow not wanting to let go of his darts.

I think I'll start slow with one or two.............

Seems a bit trivial with the world economy and stuff I'll shut up now.

One figure at a time and don't look at the pile you take it off, thats how I do it - and don't buy any more.

I've told myself so many times no more until these are painted and then......

I see something I like and  ooops its in my collection.

Recently

One Armoured train , 2 gun carriages , 2 carriages
2 Austin pulitovs
1 RR a/c
1 vickers medium tank

assorted figures to finish warlord army off but then theres gonna be more because I want to have two different warlord armies...............

I stopped telling myself not to buy any more years ago.

But you are right the worst 5 words are either don't buy any more (actually thats 4) or you're not buying any more ( from she who must, or thinks she must, be obeyed) :'(

It happens to me all the time. I buy some minis, see more nice ones, order them, start painting, building. Then it's payday and you think of all the minis you need to finish projects, units, squads etc. So onto the net you go and order them up and your pile of lead grows.

As you work hard every day for someone else (unless you are your own boss) you deserve the biggest pile of lead you can get, so don't worry.

Cheers

I am so many periods behind, those I'm painting, those I'm undercoating, those still in pristine packs, those already on my next show purchase list, those I'm planning and those I'm looking at and wondering about.

Oh yeah.

I'm sure I mentioned this on another thread, but I have the habit of buying a whole raft of stuff for a project then looking at it all piled up and realising how long it'll take and thinking "bugger that, I'll do this instead", and consequently never finishing anything. And I'm rubbish at block-painting units anyway.

The other thing that gets me again and again, is Hasslefree figures. As lovely as they look on the website, you never really understand till you have them in your hand just how fine the details are. And then I have to decide whether I'll feel worse by making a bog of painting them, or by putting them in the "one day" box.

On no account should this stop you buying miniatures. Only a fool and a communist would think it should. Or your wife.  ;)

Fritzy : I run a company with 5 others so I am sort of my own boss but I still deserve a big pile of lead for my efforts.

Jollybob : my wife is a commy and its like the great escape at the moment but with stuff going in rather than escaping.

Jororas is right I could say ............. but maybe not i like walking and breathing and talking and having my fingers to hold the brush with................ lol

A pile of lead is not a problem, a pile of painted lead, now that's the rub.

Thumb and index finger only on each hand enough to hold a miniature and a brush lol
