Central India Horse and Skinner's Horse Eritrea 1941
« on: 31 May 2014, 02:43:35 AM »
After being inspired by James Morris's thread on Keren 1941 figure conversions, I managed to find a copy of Eritrea 1941 by AJ Barker. In that book there is mention of the Recce units of 4th & 5th Indian Divisions, being CIH & SH. During the conflict they mentioned losses or damage to Armoured Cars on those units as they performed their normal Divisional duties, scouting, probing etc. Initially they were equipped with unarmoured trucks and Bren/Universal Carriers (allegedly) but as vehicles became available, they received "armoured cars". Do any of our readership know what Armoured Cars were used by CIH & Skinner's Horse in this conflict?
Cheers,

Very likely they are referring to India Pattern Carriers.

Company B make some excellent ones - http://035f399.netsolhost.com/companyB_models_UK.html - although it shows as out of stock at the moment.

Yes, they may have had the Crossley as I believe that was also in service with recce units attached to Indian troops in Malaya. Now, who makes a Crossley in 15mm?  :-[
