Here the army I painted in 2006, at that time I used tamiya smoke ink for armors and no citadel washes. It's a Balchoth army, the Easterlings of Dol Guldur, so I painted all the miniatures with a dark paint scheme. The orcs and the other civilians were just dipped. I wrote a background of the balchoths but unfortunatelly it's in italian language  :(

The black and metal look works really well on the Easterlings. I have a load of those that never felt like painting. You might just have inspired me.

Great alternate colour scheme for the Easterlings and some nice conversions in there (the Mordor Uruk as Captain, I believe, is very effective).

Real nice work - the conversions in particular.

Where's the blacksmith from (the one in the third from last photograph)  ???

I like that style.

I am interested to know where you got all your civilians from- I recognise the perry miniatures ones but not many of the others.

Thanks :)
Most of the civilians are from Perry Miniatures. Priestess Ereshkigal , Queen Nishta, the blue lady, Slave master with slaves and blacksmith are from Ral Partha. The skull warrior with axe is from RAFM. Nadja, the idiot fat guy, the beer girl, the children and the strumpet are from Hasslefree. The lotr miniatures are usually smaller that other heroic scale miniatures, so I found that these range of miniature had the same size.

More miniature I painted for lotr

Sauron, same paint scheme of the Balchoths

simple conversions for an Easterling new army I wanted to create (but never done), the easterling and haradrim were painted using dipping.

Very well done! As a Middle-Earth nerd I love threads in which people Show their take on specific aspects of that mythology. And the Balchoths are an important part of that.

I personally have always pictured them more barbaric, more Hun-like, but I still think you have collected a great mix of models and have done an impresive job painting them. The elements work well together and the result is really convincing. Two thumbs up!

That is an impressive collection of BEAUTIFULLY painted minis. The civilians are particularly appealing to moi. GREAT WORK!
