Old Glory Saracens ?
« on: 23 June 2014, 11:28:45 AM »
Im looking for miniatures to expand on my 28mm Saracen force when Old Glory cough my eyes.
Problem is I cant find any good size comparisons or good pictures of their miniatures.

I really hate buying miniatures in the blind.

Anyone got any experience of them or know how they compare and mix with other makers ?

Its mostly cavalry miniatures Im after now but infantry could be of interest to.

No one got any Old Glory miniatures or know how they compare to other miniatures in size?

I would like to know if I can mix them with maybe Perry or Gripping Beast that makes up the most miniatures in mine collection.

I haven't seen them 'in the flesh' but the Perry's and Gripping Beast both produce nice ranges as i'm sure you know.

I could show you a comparison of old glory Samurai with Perry Samurai if thats any good to you but not sure how much that will match the Saracens.

I have mostly Old Glory Saracen cavalry in my army ( sorry no photos )  , Alongside the few  GB metal cavalry I have  they look a little slight in stature , but not by much but  the horses are a noticeable difference , GB being more chunkier .
The OG cavalry match perfectly with the Perry metals and if youre after a bargain fior cavalry to boost the ranks  the cheap plastic HaT  Almoravid cavalry are also a good option to mix with OG cavalry

I have also got the OG infantry to be slightly smaller than the GB infantry and while I have both manufacturers mixed in the same units  thr difference is only noticed if you look for  it as allot of the poses are very dynamic

hope that helps

cheers Tom

Hello,
You will need more than one pack!
I am a friend of Gold glory miniatures - see my parthians - but the horseman regularely don't fix with the horses and you will need a minimum of two packs to get 10 horseman.
Or send me a message - I've got dusends of horses left.

And here are some reference pictures for future readers.
My impression on their cavalry miniatures is that I like them and am glad that I bought some.

Seen in this pictures are from left to right:

I had painted some about 20 years ago and sold them to Russ - they used to be on the OG website but I do not see them anymore - I might have a picture at home somewhere.
Overall they were not bad sculpts - I was using Essex mainly at the time - but the slim waists of the horses made the riders look 'bandy-legged'.
