May be this picture can help you, British marines with captured shore batteries at Shimonoseki, september 5, 1864.

A cracking picture that  :)

I've got the makings of a land battery like that somewhere in the cupboard  ::)

I read that not only were French advisors present but also current or former British and American officers to lend military expertise, my question is what miniatures would be suitable for all three? I don't know much about 19th century uniforsm, would civil war officers or say Officers from the empress Zulu range be suitable?
What rules planning use for these?

At the devizes show on Sunday, will pick up some navel brigade figs there. Although i am being swayed towards the B.I.F . Maybe a small group of eight.

Which perrys B.I.F would be best to get? Killmarnock hats or shakos?
