Blimey Jon, that's a beaut! Only thing it's lacking are ways to get inside. Also, that rear hatch should probably not be hinged that way, but on the side instead.

Yeah - the rear hatch is a touch too big to rotate and not have the hinge overlapping the panel lines. I figure there's a hydraulic assist or something to help open it.

The main access hatch will be at the front, below the cockpit area (there's a big blank section of lower hull between the tracks. Glad you like it :D

Happy New Year! For my first painted models in 2015 I went for some simple figures which have been sat unpainted on my desk for months - a pair of Adeptus Arbites Agents (sort of like 40k detectives I think!). I'm calling them Agents Kobi (white) and Brand (black) - at some point they'll have an accompanying squad of Arbites troopers.

They're made from RT Commissars with heads from the old Citadel Paranoia Troubleshooters (1985?). I did a teeny bit of sculpting (hair and ear on Kobi, collar on Brand):

Those are a lot of fun.  They remind me a bit of the Brit-Cit detectives who work with the Brit-Cit judges in the Dredd stories, a guy called Armitage being the most well known of those.  Those guys wear powder blue coats, but the blue trim on these is still enough to put that influence in mind.

The expression on Kobis face is quite amusing.  He looks a little like Timothy Spall :)

Thanks guys!

@cheetor - I really must read some 2000ad stuff...it pretty much bypassed me!

@Warburton - make sure you share the results :)

That what I was thinking, without being able to put my finger on EXACTLY what I was thinking....if you know what I mean!
In fact a lot of those paranoia faces remind me of the artwork from 2000AD.

They look great, I believe the subtle conversions here work much better than many more complicated approaches I've seen over the web.

I dont want to go off topic too much here, but I would be more than happy to suggest a couple of 2000AD books that overlap heavily with the elements of the 40k universe some time.

An Armitage book wouldnt be top of my list, but you can probably see some similarities with your detectives here:

Thanks guys!

And seeing as I'm still enthused about painting stuff, I got out the brushes again last night and painted up this chap:

I must admit, it had been a decade or two since I'd last painted an Astropath, and I was really pleasantly surprised to discover how wonderfully simple this sculpt is. There's hardly any detail (just skin, a robe, a bag and a cane), but the pose and facial expression tells you everything you need to know about the character. A very enjoyable 2 hours painting :)

As ever, more over at the blog.
