Thanks all!

A couple more scavvies for you:

Making it all four Marauder scavvies painted:

I've enjoyed these a lot, so am working on some conversions of other figures sculpted by Aly or Trish to hang around with them (more on those in future).

Brill, the skin tones look ideal. I always liked the armour plated glove on the chainsword guy. Looking forward to more of these.

Thanks Raedwald - sickly and pallid seems to be suitable for scavvies!

I've just finished off another pair as it happens. These are both converted from WHFB fighters:

Quite a bit of work to turn them from fantasy figures into 40k, but I think they've come up alright!

inspired.
your superb greenstuff additions notwithstanding, the more I see of the old school designs the more I wish I hadn't pretty much been out of the hobby back then. The best of it is as good as it got really.

Excellent work there, man! I especially like Mr Pointy Hat. That pit slave arm is perfect for the look.

The Jes scavvies look more bad-ass to me, but I really like the way the Marauder ones look a bit like sick old men. I see them as even more downtrodden than the Jes scavvies, like a different gang. Are you going to combine the two or keep 'em separate?

Thanks folks!

Are you going to combine the two or keep 'em separate?

I'm yet to decide. I'm leaning towards them being a distinct gang, but with a compatible colour scheme so I can mix and match if I need too.

The period between ~1986-1991 is my favourite. It seemed to be the perfect point between fun concepts and consistency of sculpting quality. That might be a nostalgic view though ;)

Agreed  :) For me at least it is also relevant that this is before Black Library started churning out lots of "canon" fluff. All those old Confrontation sculpts have unusual little details that personalise the minis. Those details are there to an extent in the concept sketches the sculptors were working from, but it also seems as if the sculptors added their own little details to the world by adding them to the models. It makes you wonder "Who is this little guy?", rather than "Oh I know what all that means, I've read all the fluff".

I spent quite a long time working out whether I should do a scaly for these scavvies or not. In the end I decided I liked the concept, but wanted to make something that fit the Marauder scavvies aesthetically. Here's the result (converted from a Talisman troll):

Not sure! I need to paint a few things ahead of Bring Out Your Lead at Foundry in a few weeks. There's at least 3 more of these scavvies to go too.

Thanks! For years I had no scenery, but I spent a long time making and painting a selection of fringeworld buildings and scatter terrain. It comes in handy for these photoshoots!!

A couple of new bits

- a servitor-bodyguard by Warfactory Miniatures that I'm using to watch over my Colony 87 nobles:

- a scratchbuilt sign for set-dressing in an upcoming game:

The servitor is quite unsettling, not sure I'd want her following me around incase she had some sort of glitch...

The Second photo is priceless, the Cultist, mutie and scaver observing the signage.

A cultist, a mutie and a scaver walked into a bar.......

What's the punchline.
