Retro sci-fi cheetor, not tracksuit! ;)  ;D

A striped hoody may be the utter height of far future extra terrestrial chic.  He could just as easily be on his way to court, where he works as astro-magistrate.

No irony was implied: I actually like his trac... retro sci-fi ensemble.

Great stuff one way or another :)

@cheetor - I think you're right, striped hoodies are 'sick'.

@pocoloco - I do plan to paint some genestealer cultists, but not in the same scheme as this. Maybe later in the year ;)

Some more WIP pics of work from the last week or so.

I've started planning out some terrain with a market place, including an exotic alien pet trader - here's all his wares on display:

The trader himself is a Citadel Wizard with an added 15mm alien and fantasy familiar from Reaper. His stock is displayed on a lasercut table courtesy of cheetor (containing more 15mm aliens and an old squig), in a cage (cheap jewellry piece from China) and a corral (Playmobil pet run with more squigs, 15mm aliens and old chaos familiars).

I've also created another wierd thing, this time using a bloodletter body and the head from a chaos thug:

More details on the blog - enjoy!

That bloodletter conversion is genuinely unsettling.
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

Those old Bloodletters were truly alien in concept, I love those figures.

I'm also jealous of your ideas. I was planning an alien dealer myself :)

Great stuff. The Wyrm conversion is very reminiscent of the conversions John Blanche did in the 80s :)

I was aiming for something quite Blanchian - unsettling and wierd without being all about horns and fangs. If only I could imitate his paint jobs!

Latest off the painting table is my attempt to make and paint something after the style of John Blanche. I present Wyrm, creature of chaos:

He (it?) is an incredibly simple conversion - the head of a 1980s Chaos Thug stuck on the body of a 1980s Bloodletter, then a bit of greenstuff to hide the join. I attempted to paint a homage to John Blanche's 1980s creations - hence the dappling on the spinal crest (although John would probably have used more orangy reds and more greeny blues!).

Here's Wyrm with his fellow cultists:

As ever, more pictures and text over at my blog.

Im slightly turned on...    lol

Great painting.  The model itself reminds me of something out of an eighties horror movie, maybe from Terrorvision I think.  Very Blanchian one way or another.

That cultist group looks really good together.  They seem to have sprung into existence fully formed, very nice.

Awesome work, and the cultists and spawn look great together as a group. The wyrm certainly lends itself to thoughts of, What went wrong for this chaos champion that he ends up like that instead of a daemon prince.....?

Great stuff.

I'm sure I'll get shouted down as heretic, but I've never really liked or rated Blanche's work or the  vision he brought to 40k. I always prefered the work of Goodwin, Kevin Walker, Paul Bonner et al.

In the same way I've never much liked his pjs, much prefer your own Axiom.

The Freak Show are fantastic. Top stuff

Oooh, he has come out very nice indeed.
Lovely paintjob.

Kind of makes me think of 'The Thing' too with that neck.
Great work.
