Thanks for the link, 6milPhil. Really interesting.

I'm not that into RPGs, so I've only read D&D with pornstars occasionally, but it's all still interesting. Some of the flak she and others have received still rings true.

Actually, I think the group has a good attitude to games, and startout out that way, too (homebrew style games using the figures you own).

Why a porn actress would need a blog is a mystery to me...

Same as everyone else. Looking at her blog, other than porn photos, it's just the usual collection of photos and art. Pretty obvious what it's all about and pretty easy to avoid if you're not into that. That she makes it clear what her profession is isn't very different from the usual "I'm a middle-aged gamer Dad" type blogs. I'm not sure why half the people here "need' a blog or post online, but I'm glad they do. I thought attention whoring is what most game blogs and forum threads were about anyway? "Lookit wot I bought/painted!"

blog no problem, sex workers no problem
but
sex industry big problem - implies human traffic, rape, woman objectification, forced prostitution, often child molestation at the bottom, many other facets that not good

want to ignore that?  - dumbfuck better think again....
active job in sex industry good professional choice for Your kids?

advertising porn industry as "regular" in many social media...doubtful
would so many watch that blog if it were not connected to tittilating porn?

"hey, what's the problem, fucking other people for money on a daily basis is just the regular job like flipping burgers in a diner I would recommend for my 10 yeas old boy - and he likes RPG too, just like the girls on the blog. He could start as a fluffer and work his way up"

I very much doubt that the many many social media outlets this RPG video series has is totally unconnected to neither the industry they work in nor the raising of awareness for the artist's activities.
I don't think they are "just like regular people's blogs", the same as any hollywood actors twitter account is hardly related to the expression of their personality, but more to raise awareness for what they do.

again, sex workers are no more or less regular people than you and me, and they deserve the respect every human being deserves - the sex industry that exploits them is not a regular profession that should be advertised (or connected to regular hobbies, IMHO)

again, simply waiving the many horrific implications of the sex industry just because we are not victorian prudes anymore or just because we do not look down on prostitutes, porn actors or strip dancers any more but regard them as the regular people who deserve our respect simplyfies the problem a bit because it is this sex industry that fucks them up. literally!

but on the other hand, why do I care? after all we still buy cheap clothes although we cannot ignore the horrific working conditions they are made in, or we simply don't care to what dreadful health perils certain raw materials are mined in as long as we can watch nice miniatures on our mobile devices. So let's ignore any bad implications and not be aware, YOLO

oh sorry, sentence too long, post must be scrolled on mobile device, better switch to sexy chicks in skimpy dress...

As one of the old guard of roleplaying (playing since the mid-70’s) one thing I have always loved about the roleplaying community is the general good humour and acceptance (you’re a gamer too – cool).
Roleplaying is both an escapist and a cooperative experience which, in my experience, has attracted people who want fun and non-judgemental social contact. Over the decades I have played with people of every political, religious and physical hue, with ladies and with gentlemen, with the able and challenged, with the socially awkward and shy, and with the excitably extroverted. it has been an privilege and a hoot.
There have always been the odd chaps (and strangely they are always chaps) who stood out and were less than gentlemen, but most found themselves quickly in groups of one. What I have not experienced up until now though are people who bring hate to the table
My friend Christopher enlightened me the other day to the plight of this group of gamers who are going through quite an ordeal. I had been aware of ‘I Hit With My Axe’ blog for some time and knew that some of the blogger’s friends were young ladies with, shall we say, interesting backgrounds. Honestly I had not given it any thought whatsoever. They are gamers – cool.
This level of active and persistent hatred, good people, is unacceptable in any civilised community and, in the UK at least, is probably illegal (we have anti-hate speech laws here).
Well, for one, I shall not stand aside and put up with this.
These young ladies, and the gallant Zak, are doing nothing more than playing games. The fact that they blog about it and their lives is just something many of us do in the hobby.
Yet some social pygmies with stunted moral development have taken it upon themselves to attack them for it. In particular I find it interesting when white males use their religion to justify such hatred. Obviously they didn’t get to the part in the gospels when Jesus said ‘love thy neighbour’…?

I'm not convinced this thread is going to stay productive, so I'd like to end it on that note. Topic locked.
