Bark Terrain!
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:35:02 PM »
Just finished this!  I love this technique.  Glue a few bits of fir bark to some Styrofoam, slap on a bit of drywall mud... Some paint and flocking to taste!  This ones a bit big about a foot long.  Maybe 14".

It may be worth doing a stage by stage tutorial for those interested wink wink, nudge nudge haha.

Looks great though, something I would use in a monster hunt scenario :)

Very nice!  I've been looking for a method to do some rugged terrain.  Been using cork but this looks better.   :)

It's really quick too!  Other than drying time which was overnight for the drywall mud it only too less than 2 hours.  The mud application is fast... Paint too.  All in all very easy.  I live on a lake and the bark washes up by the ton but you can buy a bag of landscaping bark that will last a lifetime.  Might not get the nice variation is size I'm lucky enough to have though.

Nope, sorry. Never even looked.  Was sorta considering selling some completed stuff but would also consider selling the "Raw lumber":)  Though I'd prefer to trade for minis and terrain.  PM me if anyones interested in either the bark or finished pieces!

Thanks for the comments and interest!

If you have a flower shop nearby they often stock it for decoration as do pet shops that sell reptiles.

You may have to take a half round bit and break it up though.
