Plastic Zulu War Brits Announced
« on: 07 August 2008, 08:19:27 PM »
I imagine it's my job to tell you about this. I'm not sure if it's the kind of thing Colonial Moderators do or not (I think I'm mostly just supposed to stop the natives from squabbling and stealing cattle from each other), but anyway...

Wargames Factory have announced a line of plastic Colonials, kicking off with Zulu War Brits.

I wonder if they will prove as ethereal as their Romans and Celts?

Apologies if you all already know about this, I'm new at this roving reporter lark.

Yes, I did already know about these although I only found out the manufacturer earlier this evening. That is of no matter because now we have a thread where we can discuss said plastic Brits.

Personally I hope they make it this side of the pond without too much of a price hike because at $15 for 20 figures I would buy some just for the helmets and rifles.

I'd actually write up scenarios for .45 Adventure for them at that price. :)

I'm hoping they stick to their now-announced schedule. I've been looking forward to seeing their Romans and Celts.

Personally I'm keen to see the Zulus. If they're nice they could bulk out my half-started Ngoni army a tad.

When I e-mailed Wargames Factory about the Romans, they told me North Star would be carrying them in the UK.

Always good to see more plastic 28s a good prices like this, I can't argue 40p a model.

I can relate, commissarmoody.

As someone with a simply obscene number of BTD Zulus, not to mention Copplestone Ngoni and Tuta, and a startlingly large number of Foundry British to pacify them, I'm more interested in the conversion potential of these, given their relative economical price:

- stand-ins for other colonial powers in Africa

- other Zulu-influenced tribes.

I have my Foundry books out making notes for conversions...

If nothing else, these will make economical casualties.

They look a bit chunky to me. It does look like a real sprue though, and not a "virtual green" so these may actually be available to buy.

I imagine it's my job to tell you about this.

It sure is, Bwana!  :)

well regarding the news! it reminds me of that story about a kid name Piotr and a wolf called ... errrr... wolf.

I really hope nobody gets eaten in this story ... but I'll have to wait and see, and only then I'll gather the angry mob to hunt down the plastic miniatures!

those hats and the possibility to convert the miniatures into XX century colonial troops will probably make this a very interesting product!

But for now I'll wait...
Cheers,
Pedro
