The Hills Rise Wild in 28mm Now with ADDED AAR
« on: August 08, 2014, 01:42:59 PM »
After Svennn built me a house fit for the Whately Mansion I decided I'd have a crack at he Hills Rise Wild in 28mm, it's the first time I have played the game since Convulsion!

Here's the layout:

And the Masion looking BUFF!

As the board is double the size of the boradgame I decided to mutliple all distances by 1.5 for move, range etc.

The first two cults to go at it will be:

The Whateleys

Lavinia and Wilbur (tentacles hidden)

Cletus, Clem, George and The Hound

And the Marshes:

Sea Hag, Slippy Fin and Captain Obed

Junior, Sargasso and Spew

The other two will go after with a winner takes all final!

To win the game a cult has to find the Seal to access the Mansion, then find the Necronomicon then return to their  summoning circle and call up your an Outer God. To add a bit of spice the game is the wrong side of the tracks so the cults start in the opposing players circle!

Will post some picures (if) when I get to play it!!!

Great to see the mansion made it from Middle England to France in one piece and is being put to use already.  I cannot believe your wife will allow the set up to hang around whilst you await time to play out the game - at least you can refer to these pics when you get it all out again ;D

Well now, that's a rather spooky coincidence. I came across my dusty old copy of the boardgame when I was having a clear out last week. I started painting some 15mm figures for it years ago but, like so many projects, it kind of died a death. Great to see you go the whole hog & put together a 28mm set up for it. Well done that man  :D
...and what fresh new hell is this?

Glad to see the game is popular over seas. I remember when it first came out. There was also talk of sculpting all the miniatures faithfully, the crossover to other games would have been huge.

AAR Whately Vs Marsh
« Reply #7 on: August 13, 2014, 01:52:02 PM »
On a quite afternoon it all started slowly, each side slowly feeling this way around the old Whately estate:

Despite the Hound's shocking sense of smell luck was with the Whatelys as they slow amassed powerful items while the Marshes were being weakened by hidden temples, old ladies and feaky houses (cars)

With three of the deep ones down at least two lives the battle was joined:

Sea Hag and Slippery Fin tried to take first blood

While the Whatelys continued their Stream of rich findings:

Even picking up the Secret Seal

The howling Hound stunned two fishmen, but was then slaughtered where he stood:

Obed and Clem went toe-to(toe in an epic fight and although Obed came through in the end would the length of Clem's stand cost the Marshes later?

As Old Man Whatelt finished off Slippery to open the route for George to get to the Mansion

Seeing the Whatelys ready to break down the door the Marshed tried to regroup and cover the way home....

Though they mad tactical errors and wasted their ammo on the weaker Whatelys

Obed finally downs Clem, but is it too late?

As the Whately's start to turn the tide

And hit the jackpot

The Sea Hag helping them on their way

As they make their break

Even though the Marshes fight back they can't get the Whatelys to fall

The tide turns this way and that...

and in the end there are just the BIG DADDIES standing, it's a flashback to the British Bulldog in the Battle Royal of 1991. Just like the BB on home ground it was a sure thing for Old Man Whatley

Old Mad Whately weighs in with a 20, meaning brutal damage

Obed uses his specail ability to negate it, but it can't save him twice as Whately scores a 20 with the hit die and then a 20 with the brutal damage die in the very next turn!

Whately cleans the goo from his tentacles and  BOOK!

Back soon for Ghouls vs Cultists!

Well the cutlists smashed the ghouls and then went on the naorrowly beat the home twon boys in the final.

I'd forgotten how much fun the game is and I'm seriously thinking about expanding the game to lay larger and longer games, I realised that I like games with cards, tokens and ammo!

I recognize them Deep Ones from RAFM Miniatures!

Too bad HRW didn't get a miniatures facelift. Hmm... RAFM KS for HRW...!
