USMC 'Bug Hunters' League
« on: 07 September 2014, 11:49:57 PM »
This league has a military theme more in line with 1950's sci-fi classics, and should allow for a wide variety of nifty toys from the Gadgets Guns & Vehicles expansion to find their way onto the table.

The 'Bug Hunters' are destined to fight aliens of all kinds. Whether the threat be mindless protoplasmic blobs, atomic powered robot hordes or horrors from beyond time & space. It's the Bug Hunters job to welcome any curious extraterrestrial visitor with a cheery, "Eat lead, alien freak!"

The list is built using many of Pulp Alley's current playtest abilities and features two Gangs plus a Leader built to support them. Captain Jones, the Sidekick, is the designated pilot for vehicles and aircraft, as resources permit, so his focus is on Action Skills.

Gadgets Guns & Vehicles offers a lot of interesting ways to spend Resource points; there could be a gun team, a rocket-bike or an armoured walker, all depending on the League's mojo with the Bastion of Science roll. Some advance planning to cost-out low-point guns & vehicles will keep things fast & flexible when playing this league.

Once the league gains enough Reputation and the bonus slot opens up, Private Jones' Follower-slot provides the opportunity for a third squad (Gang) or another Ally to grow the ranks.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Are you planning for some atomic-era pulp gaming with these fellows?

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

Indeed.  :D

I have a suitable selection of Alien goodness from Pulp Figures, Hydra Miniatures and Bombshell. Enough to fuel a variety of interesting interactions.

But that's not all! On their visits to planet earth the Extra Terrestrials will need a stylin' ride, and for that we have the classic Pegasus Hobbies 'Area 51 UFO'. That kit is just the right size to look convincing and still take a flying stand. There must be FLYING saucer.

The setting will be rural; motivation to build and paint the Perry 'American' plastic buildings and the 'Hobo Jungle' from Plasticville that have been taunting me from atop my workbench for months and years....

If I have it all done (that would also mean a new gaming mat) for next April, I'll put it on as a 'big game' at our local convention.
