Future beasts
« on: August 26, 2008, 03:37:38 AM »
I'm looking for an interesting horse-like mount to use in an after the holocaust game.
I've seen the various raptors and some huge monsters meant to be thoats from Barsoom, but I've been trying to find other "alien" looking animals.

Thanks,
SteveN

How about giant cockroaches? The toy dept. usually has some.

For alien try the new mounts for the Quar from Zombiesmith.

Try Zombiesmiths Cadiar mounts for the Quar they are very unusual.

Void 1.1 had some exotic dino-like mounts. while the junkers ones were some other kind of raptors the Viridian ones looked like non-carnivourous dinos.

You could also try giant versions of very small animals like lizzards, weasels, or stuff like that.
Far less active than I used to...

Urban Mamoth has some interesting 'camel-like' mounts for their Junkers (Urban War), and the Viridians ride some lizards with gas masks...

I would have linked, but I cannot access the site at the moment (Forbidden)...?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Now depending on how ya mean "horse-like" deoends on your possibilities.

If your talking "horse-like" say Odin's Steed or "horse-like" as in a mount that can be ridden like a horse.

If you mean the former dont rule out the Mage Knight Steam Horse. Actually that model works for so many possibilities including Sci Fi and PA settings. Here is a direct link. There are more than the Dwarven versions as well.

If your talking the latter again dont rulle out the Mage Knight line. The Dark Riders section specifically. They have a good looking lizard, a bird like an ostriach, a mechanical cat, a stag and a few others. Click and stroll down and be click happy.

Have fun clicking. :-)

Probably a crazy idea (and definitely not horse-like), but how about the 15mm Cimexians from Brigade Models? They're meant to be tank-type things in 15mm but in 28mm they'd make interesting riding beasts. This one could work, and looks a tad like the Ohmu from Nausicaä coming to think of it:

I might as well mention the Moonfleet Pack Llamels while I'm at it:

"When to keep awake against the camel's swaying or the junk's rocking, you start summoning up your memories one by one, your wolf will have become another wolf, your sister a different sister, your battle other battles, on your return from Euphemia, the city where memory is traded." - Italo Calvino

Wow, those are some bizarre jellyfish riders! I must ask the people at Cryptlock where they get their weed.
