I've always heavily disliked the CBT Marauder figure...in order to cram it onto the hex base, the feet are far too small.  The proper one has a real balance to it.  The miniature is...rough!  lol  Most noteable in TBC's group shot.  Look at how spindly and tiny the legs are for that huge bulbous canopy.  :D

I've decided (with four friggin' boxes of Robotech coming) that I'll spare a decent number of Robotech mechs to the side and paint them up as CBT style mechs --- probably make my own rules up for them (not a fan of CBT gaming).

Awesome.

Cheers Mate :D

I made her more 'beat up' than Natasha's Warhammer.  In the book it said it has some significant damage, so I thought to make it a bit more 'worn'.  It also has a LOT of plates!  I find that some are a lot easier to paint up than others, or at least quicker...

Griffin is up next!

Ah, I also used Vallejo Still Water in the cockpit windows :D  I went back and added it to the spot light nt he Warhammer as well.  Unlike a gloss, the Still Water is self leveling, so it really gives a glassy look.  Right now it's still drying, but I expect it to be much clearer tomorrow.

it is incredibly hard to find good looking mecha for battletech. As dated as these figs are they are still superior to most of what is out there.

There was a full scenario book for the black widows.I recall it being rather good.

I agree! There is something about these old mechs with their attendant overheating problem that just dont compare...  They have such an old school charm.  And if you want a quicker game, play 3050 and use Double Heat Sinks and XL's!

Yes, there are two books with scenarios, Tale of the Black Widow Company.  The first is 3025, and the later is @3050 or so, but both have scenarios.  I've based this Company on the 3025 model.  I think I'll adjust it to my own tastes from here and use the later publication as a basis.

Ever have the experience of viewing a thread a second time, and seeing the obvious previously missed?

To Bo Coo doing Classic BattleTech...

As in a stage in between? Please share thoughts on how to do that!

I'm fine up to the old school version of 3050.  Nothing beyond interests me.  I've acquired the old TRO's --- the original 3025 and 3050.  They're beat up, so I may painstakingly convert them into a PDF eventually for myself.

I was hugely unimpressed with the way modern BT is going.  However, I will point out the (mediocre) plastic boxed lances are coming out soon, about $20 ($15 on shops) for 4 plastic mechs is a bit much, but a huge savings vs. the $12-15 per metal mini.  Again I may end up playing solely with my Robotech figs.  I did score some reasonable sized Gashapon from Dougram to cover even more unseen mechs.

Just some updates.  Finally finished the Hayes' Griffin.  All I need is to finish the Marauder and the Command Lance will be done.  C&C's as always are welcome and appreciated! :D

Coming along nicely.  I have some slick little Dougram gashapon figures I picked up recently...gave me some slightly out of scale Griffins, Shadow Hawks, and some Wolverines which will be chopped up to make old-school Battlemasters out of the new plastics!  lol

I've been wondering how long it would take for someone to mention this lol

I'm really looking forward to seeing what people do with the RT models once they get stuck in.  i only wish they scaled better, I'd buy a bunch....

I notice that from certain angles the Warhammer's Small Missiles look crooked, other times not...  It bothers me, but I rationalize it as the product of some battle damage...

Great work! I have a fondness for old school BattleTech, the Crusader was the first metal mini I bought back in the days…
