I was swithering about putting this thread in the fantasy forum or here but I decided to split it as that would be most fitting so I'll post a link at the bottom for the fantasy bit.
Basically I've had a interest in Elizabethan/Tudor warfare for a while, even before TAG brought out there gorgeous range, and I've focussed on the Dutch Revolt but long term want to be able to use the figs for the French wars of religion as well (then I can buy the Gendarmes from TAG!)
Anyway I started off with the idea of building 'companies' of 16 figs plus a officer and a standard bearer. The first unit I completed was a unit of spanish musketeers (i think I've posted them before)

And apart from basing and the officers I've got a Dutch/Rebels/Huguenot unit painted

A second unit of spanish, this time arquebusiers, is about half way through

A third unit of spanish has also been started using the classic citadel estalians. As there are only three poses I've had to do a bit of head chopping

as well as using the Gamezone imperials with and without head swaps

The plan is to use Donnybrook for rules and count the spanish as elites so that they will at first get only two companies. The Dutch will be of lesser quality so will get three companies of arquebusiers, a small unit of halberdiers and small mounted unit, maybe Reiters

or maybe argoulets /mounted arquebusiers.
Anyway that's the plan for playing large skirmishes, or 'actions', which I'm really looking forward to...
Then these happened......
