Ugh why oh why did I look at this thread after picking up my Icestorm box. These paintjobs are so good! Your skill is both admired and hated at the same time. Or perhaps envied would be a more appropriate adjective.

Excellent stuff.

A few more more bits to go with the Nomad forces here. Painted these last year just before Christmas.

Tunguska Interventors

Vortex Spec-Ops

Two Salyut Zonds

I painted this Merc. Bounty Hunter the other day too.

Wow, you're not making it any easier for me to start on my stuff.
I'm already kinda daunted by those models.

Lovely models. Absolutely bloody gorgeous.

I agree with the Tron bit, although you'd need to remove the weapons, which looks quite ackward!

Wow! Amazing stuff Mr lead! How do you like the infinity miniatures? I'm planning on getting a few Haqqislam bikers for a gang for my 2000AD project and swithering on spending about £100 for only 5 bikers.

I'd say Infinity stuff is nice to look at. A lot of work to paint up but satisfying when done.

Assembly is a pain in the arse. Too many parts, sometimes an unnecessary number of parts. Did that Bounty Hunter model really need to come in 5 pieces? Could it have been designed better to reduce the part count maybe to two or three pieces? There can be some very small or delicate parts as well that without pinning will probably come loose long before the model gets anywhere near the gaming table. Those pieces can also be very difficult if not impossible to pin. I'm working on some more drone type things at the moment and they come in six to nine pieces depending on the weapon options chosen. Every piece needed pinning together and at least two sensor vanes are the type of thing that are tricky to pin and are still liable to be easily knocked loose. Had to fix one yesterday after it broke loose when I picked the model up for undercoating! Models like the drones also don't have any solid means of attaching them to a base. The two shown above had to have brass rod stuck into the body work to pin into the base which I don't care for. The ones I'm doing now have just enough of a contact surface to pin thankfully but it was fiddly work and yet again more pinning. Better design could have made that a lot easier. A simple peg moulded onto the ends of the 'feet' of the above drones would have made them easy to fit to a base, but why would anyone think of doing that?!

These models are all commission pieces. I was tempted in the past by some of the sculpts but found them a bit daunting from a painting point of view. Popped my Infinity cherry a while back now but personally I won't be buying any for myself.

Thanks for that! I'll maybe just buy one and try it first before I buy a whole squad.

Would you be willing to share your technique for the glow effect? It's exceedingly well done.

I'm a bit hit and miss with it to be honest. It came out pretty well on the Interventors though. It's basically VGC Falcon Turquiose highlighted with VGC Ghost Grey and white. The trick is blending some of the blue-ish colour into the surrounding colours. Mixing into greys and blacks is easy (-ish) but I still need to wrap my head around how to do it best with other colours. I know that's not much of an explanation though.

Thanks for comments everyone.  :)

Got another drone pretty much finished. Pictured next to the Merc for scale.

Liking the new drone.

Can I make a suggestion with the light thing? (God! I feel like the guy that told Michelangelo he missed a spot on the chapel ceiling!) The lighting works for these because they look like they're from Tron. If you want to make OSL work, the glow from the light source should never be as bright as the light itself. Keep white highlights on the light source but don't go nearly as white on the reflections. It's a contrast thing, the light should be the brightest painted thing on the model.

I know what you mean. I've done a few things and got it 'right', other things have come off looking ok but not spot on. I really just need more time to practice the whole OSL thing to ensure I get it right more often.  :)
