Same as Richard here : these thick GW slottabases just look wrong to me regardless of the quality of the model on top of them. But it's just a matter of personal taste and preference.

Can anyone tell me what to do with those helmet flashes they have sculpted on their left side?
I've painted them red but couldn't find any actual pre-boer war reference..?

Cheers

SP

If you hadn't already painted them already my answer would have been "file them off." Can't say for sure it wasn't done at all during that war but it certainly wasn't common practice.

Decided to keep the flashes and paint them as Suffolks with a Minden Flash..

Unfortunately I seem to have lost the fourth man..

Anyhow, I've got some kneeling figures and the officers to finish before I will get reinforcements at Salute :-)
Definitely will add Scots and Punjabi.
Great range and such fun to paint. I hope they will do cavalry as well!

Cheers

Lovely work SP!!  :-* :-* :-*

I can't wait to get started on mine- they're sitting waiting patiently for my brush to grace their surfaces but I've got so much to paint up for Salute that I'm going potty and there's no time for my hobby!  :'(

Keep up the good work! I'm sure Private No 4 will turn up soon!

Any chance of the Khaki recipe please? I seem to be making a collection of Khaki recipe's of late so one more won't hurt  :D

Hi Darrell

The Khaki is really rather simple: GW Karak Stone washed with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted with Karak Stone.
Embarrassingly easy but it is my favourite Formula for Victorian Khaki  :)

Bloody lovely SP.  :D

They look nice and gritty.
