A Tribute to M.R. James
« on: January 22, 2015, 10:18:07 AM »

I'm taking a break from knocking up scenery for the next VBCW game, and am currently engrossed in the works of my favourite writer of ghost stories, M.R. James. Combining these two hobbies I thought I'd make this little scene as a tribute...

Just who is the mysterious figure lurking on the periphery? Has Canon Albrecht returned to reclaim his scrapbook? Do the remains of Abbot Thomas still guard his treasure? Has Professor Parkins blown that whistle again?

Here it is in colour!

The ghostly figure is from the Dark Clergy set from Mason's Blind Beggar range.

Great looking vignette, what did you use for the tree foliage, it's got a much more natural appearance than the Woodland Scenics sponge bits I usually use.

Thanks both!

Ballardian, they're ready-made trees from a Chinese company and are sold on ebay.
Here's the link - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Ethersell88/Model-Tree-/_i.html?_fsub=2633720015&_sid=794874525&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

Be warned that the foliage comes off quite a lot so lots of hairspray required!

Many thanks, at those prices I don't mind having to give them a bit of a fixative spray.

Shocking confession time - I've never read Ramsay Campbell! Must rectify that poor state if affairs ASAP.
(PS I have PM'd you regarding March :))

The Goats wood cycle of stories are set near your part of the country the Severn valley so you may find some inspiration in them.

Very atmospheric, I've just been listening to a selection of his stories on the BBC Iplayer.
