Rays RT thread. With added Bibbly.
« on: February 01, 2015, 06:04:00 PM »
The future is dark. Dark like a Dark Angel in black armour.  ;)

One of my projects for this year is to revisit some of the figures that first got me into miniature wargaming 30 odd years ago. Some I've managed to acquire, some have been stripped. I have about 2 tactical squads, a dreadnought, 2 rhinos and some characters to sort out. Fortunately I'm not intending to replicate the dodgy Humbrol paint jobs!  ;)

First up is a bit of a test piece for my marines (still awaiting a backpack), a Dark Angels captain;

As its a side project there will be sporadic updates as I get other stuff (not just marines) done.

Super stuff,

And good to see proper RT minis but with updated and dare I say excellent paintjobs :-*

I am on something of a oldhammer trip at the mo, as I have become disillusioned with the "oh-shiney!" of new rules and never playing :-[ so now I am playing RT but with 3rd ed rules and Mordheim, Necromunda with a little Warhammer 4th and possibly Warhammer Ancient Battles too o_o

Sadly I have very little original RT minis, but their charm lies in the lack of skullzTM and their real character, which I feel is almost entirely lacking from most of their models from the mid 90s onwards ;D so onwards and upwards to us old hammer people :D

Wonderful face and helmet. I love how these two elements are the focal points - the rest of the colours seem deliberately designed to show them off.

That is one gorgeous paintjob.
That face is something special.
I wish that I could see to (attempt to) paint like that.

Very nice! Good to see Rogue Trader getting a lot of love around here lately. I'm on a strange form of nostalgia trip with 40k. I've been building forces with new models to recreate old themes (doing Beakies with the new Space Marine parts) and playing Rogue Trader style games with my own rules.

Seeing these great paint jobs on old models keeps me going and is really inspiring.

VERY nicely done, with sharp and clear definitions. Definitely the best of the WH40K figure generations IMHO, as the company hadn't gone corporate yet, and the artistic talent was I suspect not constrained by corporate marketing groupthink.

Makes me want to dig out my old WH40KRT figures and pick up where I left off so long ago... 8)
