My initial sketches were some Ziggurat-like structure with a pseudo-Assyrian/Babylonian look. I then realised how bad it would be for gaming (i.e. no cover). So I decided to add either trees or columns to the outer structure (still to be built). However, both options give a radically look to the building. I think I'll decide on the statue once the rest is built.

Can still work, Hanging Gardens of Babylon style.

So many projects..... so little time.......

Thanks everyone for the comments! The garden of Babylons would be a cool concept but where to add the ice, the fire, and the naked girls?

I took a step back to think about the build and came up with a new sketch. I did it on the computer this time as it forced me to be more precise with the dimensions. The new design is pseudo-Classical Greece and I had to shoehorn what I'd built so far (note to myself, next time think before building)

The floor was an absolute pain in the neck as the only high definition image I could find of the mosaic I liked was a tiny corner which I had to propagate to death. The final prints I will use for the build are not perfect but I should be able to hide the imperfections beyond rubble.

I ordered some cheap wedding cake columns. They are not amazing but represent excellent value for money. The girl stays, but the apple, the statue, the altar and the braziers are all gone. Instead I will build a huge fire in the middle. There should be something on top of the fire which will be very challenging to sculpt. As I'm not sure I'll succeed at creating it, I won't talk about it for now, and in case it fails, I have a plan B in place.

The electronics arrived; I went a bit for an overkill, but postage was free if I ordered for over $60:

and I started working on the brazier:

That will look good Donald, though I believe you have enough electronics there for a life time!  lol

Thanks for the nice comments!

Progress update: I'm quite pleased with the fire, but I have mixed feelings about the brazier/fire place, which might fit better into Overlord's wall of tyres. I hope it will look better painted as I'm not keen on starting a new one. The mosaics and brazier are not glued in place and I'm still waiting for the columns. I probably won't include the mosaics on the outside.

All in all a productive day despite a quite nasty cut with the hobby knife.

Sorry to hear about the finger, but it's been worth it.

Is the brazier stone or metal? I think a dirty bronze will contrast with the rest of the model.
