Boot Hill Minis, I need you....
« on: February 10, 2015, 05:15:17 PM »
To make Commanches.  Please!  I am 35 pages into "Lone Star Justice - The First One Hundred Years of the Texas Rangers", and I am planning Boot Hill orders in my head.  But, there is a serious need for Commanches and civilians.

Tell me about it! lol

They are on the to do list, but I can't guarantee when...

You will see some Mexican and Texian civilians later this year that's for certain. :)

Tell me more about the book?

I have been reading Empire of the Summer Moon this last year about the Comanche and that got the creative juices flowing. lol

Thanks for answering so quickly.  It is a superbly written book by Robert Utley.  It chronicles the Rangers from the 1820s to the early 20th century. The book starts right in with a skirmish between Rangers and Commanches. It discusses the numerous dust ups with Indians and Mexicans (both before and after the Texas Revolution).  There is also a need for some mounted rangers, preferably on moving horses and firing pistols or rifles.
How do the Boot Hill Minis match up with the Mountain Men, Rangers etc. from Wargames Foundry?

Sounds interesting, I'll have to pick that up. :)

The figures blend perfectly with the later Foundry figures, especially the Mountain Men.

I already have in mind asking Matthew to sculpt some rangers armed with Early Colt revolvers. ;D

I have had several discussions with other esteemed members of the forum about doing the Rangers. I'll do my best to get the range off the ground as soon as I can. :)

Ps. Not sure if you saw this thread from lat year. The start of my Comanche Moon series of games. The Boot Hill figures make perfect early rangers. All that is missing are the Colt revolvers.

I did see that.  I hadn't realized that the Conquest figures matched yours.  They are fairly slight in build.  As to early Rangers, yes all of your Texians are perfect save the addition of a revolver. Of course one could always say that when skirmishing on foot they are using muskets.

TheConquest figures are very slight in comparison to the Boot Hill figures. There is a noticeable differenc between them.  The only reason I think you can get away with it is because the Comanche are not clothed.

Ah, well personally, I am not big on mixing manufacturers.  The Foundry figures look very similar to yours, so they would pass, but I'll wait on your Commanches.  Now to decide what to sell....
