What's going on with Wargods of Olympus?
« on: February 11, 2015, 01:28:25 AM »
I really like the look of this game, but when I go to the Crocodile Games website to find out more about it, there isn't much going on. Is this game still in development or has it been abandoned? Where can I get the rules from?

They are in the process of fulfilling their kickstarter for this game.  Out of the 7 factions 3 are in general release (Spartans, Mycenaeans, and Titans), 2 have have been fulfilled in whole or in part through the kickstarter but are not on the open market/general release yet (Amazons and Trojans) and the final 2 are still waiting for KS fulfillment (Athenians and Corinthians).  Once all the odds and ends for the kickstarter are shipped I would assume a general release is not far behind.

Crocodile is basically a one-man show, so expect the highest quality releases coming out at a glacial pace. Well worth the wait, but time enough for 3 or 4 other projects before you will get anything of substance. Buy stuff as it comes out, paint it, put it away, and wait!

The rulebook is in process, but Fitz  (with the help of Todd Harris) needs to finish the Athenians and Corinthians before they can finish laying out the book. They need those last two factions finished so they can take photographs for the rule book. Kickstarter backers can expect some version of the rulebook probably within the next six months or so.

There are updates on an irregular basis both on their Kickstarter page and in their forum.

Cheers, I've done a bit of reading on their forum and I think I see what's going on now. Is there much time difference between the kickstarter backers getting their stuff, and the models becoming available for sale? I really like the look of their amazons.

At this point nothing that has been shipped to backers is available in the retail store. At this point, and it could change, I believe the plan is for nothing to go into the retail store until all the backers have received their rewards. This is, as was mentioned before, because it looks like the Croc is doing their own casting as well and don't have enough production capacity to meet the needs of both the backers and the retail demand. That's why I don't feel rushed to get my Amazons done, still waiting on the rules and waiting for them to go into regular production.

Apparently the Amazons were their most popular faction, perhaps of all time, and it took much longer to fulfill than expected.

The earlier posters are correct, the Kickstarter miniatures have been shipping in waves (Demigods and Trojans are fulfilled, and the Amazons and Automatons are shipping now).  The range itself won't be hitting retail until all the core factions have their starter warbands completed and the book is ready - likely in the latter half of the year.  Yes, we need to update the main site a little more, we've just been very busy... but there is a new update coming this week. ;)

We are wrapping up Amazon fulfillment now, and after that we'll be completing the rest of the models for the Athenian and Corinthian factions.

Gracchus, if you want to get Amazons now and not wait, Paypal pledging is still open for the Amazons/Automatons.  It will be closing in a couple weeks, once we complete all the shipments to our existing backers:

I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have, I'm Chris FitzPatrick, the project creator.  Feel free to PM me if you like, I don't want to upset the LE mods by hawking my stuff here... this is one of my favorite forums, and I don't want to 'wear out my welcome'!   :)

Hey, thanks for the reply! Always nice to hear things from the horses mouth :) I gotta say, I'm very keen on some Amazons! I might try and squeeze the budget and see if I can't get in on that kickstarter!
