Pegasus Hobbies Gothic Church Kit
« on: September 22, 2008, 03:15:25 AM »

I picked up the Pegasus Hobbies Gothic Church or small set #2 from my FLGS today.  Unlike their pre-painted stuff this piece of terrain was in kit form.  The retail price was $30.00 which I though was a really good price and the thing went together quickly.

I have a more detailed review on my blog

I like the rose window and the main windows but why on earth does such a small building need such huge buttresses? There's not enough stonework requiring that kind of support.  I think I'd try to reduce their height and see if that looked any better.  Right now, they look more like outrigger rockets for the Cosmostrator! Church in Space!!!!

It seems that this model is more useful for some conversions and use the towers as rockets instead of a gothic church. It seems that will fit better in a VSF Rocket or whatever

The buttresses arn't my favorite part of the kit either and I may cut them down for the final build.  I don't know if I'm going to shorten them and bring them in closer to the building or just bring them in closer and leave them the same height.  Of course I was looking for an inexpensive quick build so I may just leave them as is and get er' done.

I bought two of the full gothic buildings, they came with no floors, roofs and only had one door. I wish I could find some of those smaller kits, the buttresses would be nice and the window could be converted into a clock tower, which I tried to do with the big kit and it just doesn't work.
I love the concept, they just need to release a complete set.

Anyone know a British/European online vendor selling the church?

Hannants has the other gothic pieces (listed as 1:72), but they do not seem to have the church... but maybe it is too new?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I've seen the other building and none of them seem 1:72.  They all seem scaled for 28mm or so.

Yes there is some DIY involved.  Many building kits need some work.  You could buy several kits even different ones and make something larger.  They all work together.  I'm hoping they take this idea into some non gothic directions.  They could make some really nice futuristic buildings using these ideas.  Unfortunately 40K goth seems to dominate even the "generic" companies.  Still this church could be used in a number of settings.

The parts that look like a rocket are the ends of the wall section, not a part to itself.

So you could put the church on top of the gothic building (removing the doors, obviously), and get a building where the buttresses look more in place?

Yeah that's the one although that's the alternate build they show on the back of the box not the standard build shown on the front.  I'm not sure they even have all the correct parts for that build in the box.
