FIW terrain: Corn Fields
« on: March 05, 2015, 12:33:16 PM »
Since I have "stolen" so many ideas from the many bloggers on TMP and LAF over the years... thought I would share an idea that I had, which I have not yet seen anywhere else on the web!

Found a product at IKEA which can be used for corn stalks.

I am pretty familiar with the usual offerings of plastic aquarium / floral arranging plants at your typical pet store or craft store, but this was a type I hadn't seen before...

Well spotted that man!

I might surprise the Good Lady by suggesting a trip to Ikea this weekend.

Thats looks great for corn fields - I have the JTT ones but they're pricey - interestingly looking at Fejka in UK stores of IKEA, it seems to be the name for all their artifical trees - so hope they have that style in stock.
Thanks for sharing.

Mm, was thinking about adding a cornfield to my set up, looks like it might be on now, will have to check out IKEA next time in the big city. Thanks for posting.

Great find on the plants for the corn.
You have some great looking figures for the F&I War.
I see you have played Song of Drums and Tomahawk.
I really like the rules.

Yes Song of Drums & Tomahawks is great. I like Muskets & Tomahawks too, but they are both good in their own way.

I like SODT because it requires less figures.

I'm hoping to build up the size of my armies to where I can get in some more M&T games.

This is a great idea mate. I might need to pop out to Ikea now :)

Those do look great! I'll have to see if I can find something similar here...I have been wanting to do corn fields, too. I just hadn't found an inexpensive option, yet. These will definitely work for settler cornfields.

Interestingly, the native Americans grew their corn differently. They would put all three of their major crops together -- the three sisters (corn, beans, squash). Hopefully, this link comes through:

I haven't figured out a good way to model that, yet...ha, ha!

Consider your idea stolen, and I am glad you like the rules!
